Love this! Works well and large enough for my family of 6. It does take up a large portion on my stovetop but if you're buying a pan this size, you know you can't avoid it. The great thing about stainless steel is that it heats up evenly so it cooks thoroughly all the way to the edges. Because of its large size and the material, it can be a bit heavy. But I absolutely love it and it's everything I expected and wanted. I will ask, though, if any of the corporate people are listening, I would love a lid to go with it! I don't have one large enough and use 2 sheets of foil laid on top if I need to cover the pan. Still a great pan though!
The skillet was bought as an additional piece to a 11 piece set of Cuisinart pots and pans I got for Christmas. I have never in my 65 years of cooking ever. ever, ever used cooking equipment as wonderful as this. The "clad" manufacturing process makes a monumental difference in my cooking temperature settings. Follow directions on preheating the pots and pans and you will get fantastic results with the Cuisinart pots, pans and skillets whether you are a novice or an experienced chef. Bottom line--I gave all my Teflon coated pots, pans and cast iron skillets to the thrift store.
I purchased this pan several months ago to replace a similarly sized non-stick pan. We're trying to give up the non-stick surfaces in favor of stainless or cast iron. At this size, only stainless will do. It's a bit heavy but manageable. It's the perfect size for a family meal. We use it regularly to saute vegetables. We're very happy with it. The price is a bargain compared to similar pans.
I took delivery of my Cuisinart 14" skillet about 3 months ago along with a 12 piece set. The entire cookware set is fantastic and exceeded expectations - especially in the quality and design. With the 14" skillet, my electric stove (glass-top) only has a 11.5 inch burner but it is easy to position the 14" skillet over the top if it and keep it well centered. I have to preheat the fry pan a bit longer on lower heat in order to get even heat distribution - but it does work - and quite well! Just before I'm about to place 6 large breaded chicken fillets into the pan, I turn up the heat to medium high and give it another 2 minutes of preheating. All the chicken fillets, even the ones on the edge of the pan cook at the same rate as the ones in the center. I couldn't have asked for anything better. Easy to clean with some vinegar and water and baking soda. The pots and pans all come crystal clean even after heavy fried on and burned on meats and seasonings! Excellent job on the skillet - and the entire set!
This is a GREAT pan! I have a 14in nonstick skillet, but am looking to change to all stainless steel. So I knew I wanted a stainless steel the same size. Helper handle stays cool is a huge bonus. Very well constructed.
Does what I wanted: Sears steaks. I don't care if it's not non-stick (in fact, I didn't want it to be, because I like to deglaze the pan). But the bottom is not flat; liquids tend to settle on the rims.
This is a big skillet. It is a high quality product. It's a bit heavy because of the thick base but the thickness insures even heating both across the surface and how it heats and cools slowly. As to the latter it takes a little practice to heat it gradually (not on high settings) and to anticipate when you intend to turn the heat down to get the temperature change when you need it (it takes some time to cool). It is not a non-stick surface but if you season the pan correctly and don't overheat it, it is reasonably resistant to sticking and cleans quite easily. The inside base of my pan has discolored a little in spots but the color does not affect the function so I just ignore it and avoid scrubbing and scouring which just scratches the surface and makes it more likely to stick. I'd rate it 5 stars except for the discoloration which is minor.
I like it so large and flat. Easy to cook pancakes and other meals for the family. It's stainless, so it's easy to clean. However, it doesn't fit in my dish washer so we need to wash it by hand. I wish the handle is a little wider for ease of holding.
It's a great pan just bigger than I had imagined. Will work great in the oven but doesn't fit on the burners on my stove.
Skillet is great but wish the pre use instructions were more noticiable. Didn't see the paperwork until after using and now skillet is discolored. Still cooks great and maybe I should have known, but I didn't.
