I purchased this steamer set and have used it to make soups. It heated quickly and evenly. It has a nice weight and I like the bottom's thick, metal disk. It remained nice and bright after it was cleaned (and it was easy to clean). I haven't used the pasta or steamer inserts yet, but I see no reason why they will be any different than the pot itself. I'm very happy with it.
I bought this mainly for steaming snow crab legs, I had an old aluminum-ish stockpot that I modified with an upside down colander and cooling rack. It worked well but wow, what a difference in this! The legs fit in the steam basket (large one) and they fit all the way in. Wife said they tasted even better than before. I have used it many times with the small steamer basket to blanch steam squash for freezing. Works awesome. So happy with this purchase. Clean up is a breeze too.
Perfect for family sized amounts of pasta! Has a deep basket and doesn't overboil as a result. Steaming basket is nice and large too, and I can steam veggies while cooking pasta. It is a large pot but still fits in my cupboard just fine. I am very happy with this pot!
i have only used once for a large pot of chili, pot came perfectly clean even though it's difficult to cook this without some sticking at the bottom which there was. You need to heed the advice to simmer over lowest possible heat, the heavy bottom distributes heat very well.
I got sick of replacing bamboo steamers which we use almost daily and thought I would give this a try. This is a great piece of gear! For starters it's a great cook pot. If you're making pasta use the large insert and it makes straining out the pasta a piece of cake - although for very fine pasta like angel hair you may have to pick it out of the strainer holes, but that's no different than any other method for straining angel hair. To steam two kinds of vegetables, or to boil one and steam the other, use both inserts. Or to steam just one thing, use only the top insert. The size of this pot is great, and although it cleans up quite easily, it's a large pot and makes for a fair bit of clean up if you use all parts. I may end up buying a second smaller steamer pot for a smaller job like just steaming a bunch of broccoli only. That said, I am very pleased with this purchase!
I bought this for making soup for our large family on Saturdays. All the family love soups and chowders during the winter months. We have lots of “pots” but they weren't big enough or would burn on the bottom. This one is the perfect size and has a substantial bottom so our soups don't scorch or burn. We're using it several times weekly for other meals, too. My daughter and daughter-in-laws love it so I plan to gift them one for Valentine's Day.
this was a gift, on my wish list, loved the idea of making and straining pasta in one pot, the bonus is being able to steam veggies all at the same time
I've waited many years to purchase this and boy, am I glad I've got it! It is so substantial and hefty. It cooks everything so well (if you follow their guidelines) and I am pleased as punch that I have it.
Big pot great. Large insert has metal coming off of it. Metal flakes in spaghetti and on wiping it down. Use the big pot and small insert only.
I was very impressed with its overall appearance. My 1st use was making a big batch of chili. After portioning our chili we immediately washed the pot. It cleaned up great, although, when it was totally dry the bottom of the pot had stains after one use. We also have Revere stainless cookware set we bought in 1973, still used daily, and there is not one stain in the bottom of those pots. That was a good purchase.
