Works very well. (I had purchased a Kitchenaide spice grinder which only lasted a year before breaking.) When I saw Cusinart had one, I remembered that we went through several stick blenders before landing on a Cusinart which has lasted 10 years, so I purchased this Cusinart spice grinder and am very happy with it.
I was very excited to see that the cuisinart nut and spice grinder was back in stock as I needed something to powder peanuts. My coffee grinder is very small and tends to make them into a paste. The nut and spice grinder does an excellent job of grinding nuts and flax seed and I plan to use it to grind coriander seeds. Highly recommend.
This is a nice grinder, I use it for coffee. I don't know if they changed the model, but I don't see that the bowl is removable. It isn't a hassle or detrimental, though, as it is very easy to clean with the bowl still there. It is well made and I'm happy with my purchase. One thing, though, my prior grinder, there was a groove to wind the cord, this one does not, so putting it away, the cord will take up a little more room wrapping it around the grinder, or if you put a tie around the cord.
Watching those flax seeds helplessly spinning around and turning into powdery goodness just makes my morning. I have so much fun grinding up stuff, listening to the high-pitched whirling, like a little leaf blower, releasing all those lignins, nonsoluble fiber and vitamin E, I can hardly contain myself. It so easy to use that sometimes I get carried away and grind up too much.
I've started baking a gluten free loaf of bread every week and needed something simple to grind up nuts and seeds to add to the mix. My magimix was really messy with lots of components to clean, so invested in this spice grinder. Absolutely superb, having two metal containers supplied works perfectly for me. Grinds to a fine powder so works so well in bread. Easy to clean, highly recommend.
We needed a grinder to take hole spices for making chai tea lattes. Tired of using pre-ground wanted to get the fresh flavor. This grinder made short work of all spices. We tried to make a very uniform grind very quickly. The difference was remarkable of what it taste like using fresh ground spice easy to use and easy to clean. It's a great grinder. I'll be looking for more uses.
This nut and spice grinder overall works really well, but has some issues. The worst is the grinding cup got stuck and you couldn't remove it from the base, for no obvious reason. Freezing it somehow got that part released and it works well again. But even if you do small amounts of spices or nuts, only briefing grinding them, dust from them seems to get near the base under the grinding cup ~ how??? It's hard to clean up. Then there is some rubber gasket that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Yet, I have ground individual and mixed spices or nuts, not overloading it & grinding briefly, and gotten just what I was after. So its almost perfect.
I bought this grinder in 2019 and still going strong. It is a great product and very handy. I bought one for my son, who likes to cook as well. I grow my herbs, so it comes in very handy whether they are dried or fresh. Also, do my salt and pepper corns. The clear seal on the lid is hard to get back on at times and has to be aware once it's out of put it back as easily to get lost in the dishwasher. So recommend doing it by hand.
I wanted it to chop peanuts for small birds to mix with seed blends. Too much power. The pulse makes powder. Did not do a 15 second use! had powder and some nuts not chopped. I put it on shelf and will continue to hand grind. Maybe experiment another time.
Bought a replacement for my favorite grinder, but after only one use, the attachment to the motor broke and while the grinder still works, I cannot remove the upper container from the motor. What a disappointment. My previous one (same model!) lasted for 10 years before it finally died.
