You won't find a better bike for the money, and it is easy to assemble if you are somewhat mechanical. My 4.5 year old son loves it. He was able to master shifting on his first ride. He learned to ride over a year ago on a 14 inch single speed bike.
I shopped around all the local bike shops for a first mountain bike for my 7yo son, and struggled to find something that balanced cost, weight and build quality. Then I found this one online and was surprised at what you get for the money, nice lightweight frame/fork, decent components especially considering the low price. This bike has better brakes and gears than bikes priced over double the asking price of this one! This is an ideal introduction to gears and has everything a kid needs to get outside and explore some bike paths and even some green and blue local trails! Really happy with the bike, my son loves his first "big" bike. I intentionally purchased the bike unassembled as I worked in a bike shop in a ski village many years ago and I'm comfortable with setting up the brakes and gears, however If you don't know your way around a bike I'd recommend professional assembly to ensure the bike operates safely! Overall, this bike is well made and lightweight, it will last many years if maintained and it's even good enough to justify some upgrades as the riders skills improve. Highly recommend!
This has been everything we hoped for. It weighs less than the 16" bike we were replacing it with, which we had also bought because of its light weight compared to other inexpensive models. It did take several hours to teach myself how to dial in the brakes and derailer, but that is to be expected. I am handy and like tinkering in things, but if you aren't or don't it is pribably worth the expense of taking it to a real bike shop. Overall the light weight and solid quality are well worth the current roll back price, even if you tack on a bike shop fee to tuje it up for you
This is a great bike, and the price was awesome. It needed a fair amount of tuning for both the derailleur and the brakes after being assembled, so keep that in mind, but that applies to this bike when being purchased from any vendor, not just Walmart.
Amazing, lightweight bike! My 8yo son couldn't ride/balance a bike before this one. He got the feel of it almost immediately and then worked the next few days to really ride. Worth the little extra money to see him enjoying it! The neighbor boy loves this bike, and wishes he had it. It's that great!
an amazing bike especially for the cost. for the specs of this bike, its impossible to get one of similar build and quality for the price. i highly recommend buying this bike.
Cute bike…great price. It didn't come until after Christmas but that was expected. We purchased a 24 inch that arrived on time. The 20 inch had a hole in the side of the box and was missing a few of the parts to put it together. Overall good purchase.
Received an open box item appears it was opened to steal the derailleur guard. The parts box had been opened and taped back together although the bike was never removed from box or assembled. What I like about his bike: Very lightweight aluminum alloy frame, wheels handlebars and seat. What I don't like: Cheap brakes and derailleur. The Micro Shift 26 derailleur is one of the largest footprint derailleurs on the market. Way too big on a kids bike and does not work properly on this bike. The twist shifter is way too hard to turn for my grandson. It need a lever shifter for kids. The bike was very far out of adjustment both brakes and derailleur. The wheels are not anywhere close to true which makes is hard to get the brakes adjusted, this is probably the biggest problem because it is a safety issue for the little one. The handlebars are adult size too wide for my grandson. When I called the customer service number in the instructions I reached "Kent Bicycles". After arguing with me about their bikes selling on Walmart the part and serial number revealed this was their bike. I had to fill out warranty claim and then a week later was informed the missing part was on backorder.
Overall, the bike materials seemed really low quality. The brakes were flimsy, and tires were thin. I could never get one of the handbrakes to work after trying and trying and trying. In the end, I was concerned that it would malfunction while my daughter was riding it, so I returned it.
Had the bike for almost 3 weeks and the tire is already flat. Been riding on regular roads nothing crazy
