These nickel wound strings are wonderful! Just what I was looking for to use for my guitar. I absolutely love them and will be purchasing again for sure! I'm very happy with the quality of the strings, as well as the sound quality when I am playing with them!
I received the D'Addario XL110 nickel wound regular light gauge guitar strings, and strung them onto a Fender "T-Bucket" acoustic/electric guitar. They play adequately for a lighter gauge of string. Their intonation is bright and consistent, while still allowing variation in touch for expression and subtlety when playing. These strings respond well to a lighter touch, which makes these strings well suited to those with smaller hands or reduced hand strength. Less use of finger force makes for extended time enjoying playing music. These strings, while quite flexible and great for general purpose playing by a wide variety of players, are likely not well suited to either end of the playing spectrum, including slack key on one end and head banger, thrasher at the other extreme. When loosened for slack key style, they have issues holding truly consistent intonation compared to other strings engineered for that specific style of playing. If your style lends to the other end of the spectrum, metal and head banger stuff, be prepared for inconsistent distortion and tone quality. In summary, these strings are excellent for the daily player who finger picks, solos and chords. They will be very adequate for both the occasional and the professional player whose repertoire runs from folk music to medium rock-n-roll. Pick up a set and give them a test run to see what I'm talking about.
Wasn't sure what to expect with these new d'addario exl 110 strings but they provide awesome sound. The depth of the chord sound is a real plus. I think I'm going to p on some of my other guitares. Because of the ease of adjustment and sound in particular. I'm so glad I got to try these out.
The D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings, Regular Light, 10-46 are a good value. They produce a bright tone and great sound. They feel good, stay in tune, and are stable. The color coded ends make changes error proof and the 10 pack is a great value. They hold up under hard play and bending.
I gave these to my son who is an avid guitar player and he gave them the 2 thumbs up! He said he loved their tone and all around good sound. He turned his buddies onto them and they were also happy with them. Especially for the price point. They are all struggling musicians and need to stretch the money but also need the quality. They all agreed that these strings achieve both.
A must have for your guitar. I love how they keep tune and no rusting like some. They're well built, long lasting and all around good quality strings. I like the packaging they arrive in as well. It is convenient and tightly sealed. One other great thing is the affordable price.
I've used D'Addario strings and accessories for almost 20 year and have never been disappointed. Some might see them as a "budget" brand but I've yet to see a premium brand perform any better than these. Deciding on string gauge and type have a big bearing on what kind of sound you are going to get. As you can see I've put these electric strings on my Fender electric-acoustic. I prefer to use light gauge electric strings on my electric acoustics as it provides a lighter tone that can sometimes be muted with heavier, acoustic specific strings. It also provides a small amount of flexibility when running through an effects set up. D'Addario does a great job labeling their color code for their strings which is very helpful for beginners. The light action is also great for beginners or casual players. Be aware though that lighter gauge strings tend to ring or "buzz" if played too hard. Overall these are great strings that produce a light, balanced tone.
I usually use either Dean Markley or GHS strings on my guitars, but I got the option to try these and I really like them. I get a similar sound to my GHS string with these which is great for my bluesy/ progressive rock style and sound great when recording on my iPad. I've had them for about a week now, and with regular play, they're holding up quite well. I have a Fender Strat and and Mustang. I decided to install these on the Mustang, which I think was a good choice. And just so you know, I'm reviewing the sound I got from the stock pickups on a Vox AC15C1VB. Although I'm not an expert on sounds, I can say that with everything together, with some reverb, the sound was warm and bright. I'm going to stick with these strings for now.
I got these for my husband and son who both play guitars. This review is what they told me about their experience. These are some of the easiest playing strings I've had on a guitar. I usually have 10's strung so there is no difference there but the playability of the bottom 3 is much easier than my normal set. It's not a major difference but even as a novice I can tell the difference. The top 3 is crazy different. They don't feel anywhere near as heavy as my normal set and the playability is off the charts easier. They strung up easy and so far don't seem to have any inconsistencies from other strings from different companies I've used in the past. If I have a complaint at all is they fell a little more round which also may be the reason I like them so much. They just feel way different. Once on the guitar I just tuned a played normal with no issues in regards to tuning. I figured that would change when I jumped on the trem but can say they held tuning very well. It was only after an hour or so before one string needed a small tweak in tuning but that may also be an issue with the tuning machine since mine are not locking. Overall so far, I am more than a little surprised since they are slightly lighter than I usually have on my guitar. However, when it comes to the tone, they are every bit as good, if not a bit closer to what I like. All things considered, these are much better than most that I have tried and when considering price, they might just be at the top of my list.
The guitar strings are very bright and project very well. They are a bit too bright for my warmer tastes, but they hold their pitch well and are very sensitive to touch, whether that be pressing down LH or fingerpicking RH. Overall, pretty good quality strings with a nice sound, if you like bright!
