Great for easy meals

davescarrepair April 15, 2013

DAK hams work great for me,to make a Sunday dinner. A little brown sugar and pineapple and then in the oven,so i can get other things done. Works out great during the week also, part of a DAK ham in the crook pot and some beans, in the morning and dinner is ready when I get home. I then can slice off some of the rest of it,to make quick ham and eggs in the morning, before work. Also I always keep some in my RV.for Quick meals. They work great for me.

one pound ham no refridgeration until open...

LowBudgetGuy April 12, 2014

... that being the greatest selling point. Great slicing it up microwave, or fry some up for a sandwich, or add to rice, or noodles with cream of mushroom soup. buy this ham up in bulk and store it in your pantry. perfect for taking camping to. maybe stocking your "Bug out bag" for emergencies.

Great for long term storage

jacey1950 April 24, 2014

I have eaten these canned hams for years. They are salty...I slice it and put it all in a pan with water, have it come to a boil, remove from heat and pour off the water in 5 minutes. Takes out a lot of saltiness. I keep these on hand for long term storage ....I have used some after having them for 5 years with no problem, mainly due to the salt content

Playing the Lottery

Gil May 7, 2020

Shopping at Walmart is like a lottery. You chose what is in stock, then wait two weeks and when they fill the order you then get what is in stock. Weeks before Easter I ordered several hams. We did not have ham for Easter as it had not arrived. You can see when this one was shipped. Like I stated it is like playing the lottery. Nice part the delivery people are great and the food is good. We not plan about 4-6 weeks ahead. I will try about February next year.

Dak Cured Ham 16 ounce

Chief November 7, 2016

I like ham! But being single, old & disabled - a 'larger' and 'fresher' cut woul not be to my best interest. I do my best to fake it, with some brown sugar & cloves - nutmeg...or just 'nuke' it & slice for sandwiches - usually end up feeding it to he dog! But since it's canned - I keep it up with my SPAM, tuna, kippers - my survival food. Only reason I ordered it, was because it an be delivered. It's HARD, hauling loads of groceries in a wheelchair, or walker - using 'public transportation'w/transfers without assistance...I'm a proud Vietnam Vet. I haven't had any assistance since I've been back. So I DO it myself...the best way I can.

Looks solid but isn't!

DeeB April 5, 2020

I was not happy with my purchase. I had not bought this before so I was surprised when I opened this can and found "spam" not ham. This is not a solid chunk of ham it is exactly the same texture and taste of spam. Oh, well, during this Covid-19 we can only get what is available. I won't be buying this again!

chopped pressed ham chunks

therica November 3, 2015

Pretty much like Spam but not as good tasting, and this DAK is more expensive per ounce. There seems to be a lot more fat in the DAK than in even generic spam-like products. Spam-type cans are 12 ounces, the DAK is 16 ounces. Hormel Spam is $2.50 per can (20.8 cents per ounce) on walmart.com Great Value Canned spam-style is $2.00 per can on here ($16.7 cents per ounce). Our local dollar$store has decent generic spam for about $1.67. So, go figure on the cost per ounce versus this DAK at nearly 24.8 cents per ounce. We thought these used to be an actual slab of ham in a can. I guess either our memories were incorrect or DAK has changed.

I do not recommend this product at all. The texture and flavor are disappointing and feel more like a glorified canned luncheon meat than real ham. It tastes overly processed and lacks any depth or quality you would expect from a “premium” product. Stay away from this product.
