Excellent freezer to date. Fits in a small corner (with clearances) and is quiet. Solved our need to replace/downsize a 19 cu ft. one that died. The Danby looks so good, it's a part of the kitchen. Lots of space for kid's artwork-holds magnets BIG plus.
We don't keep a lot of frozen food, but enough so that the freezer section in our refrigerator is full. Additionally we had a space in our laundry / hobby room that a smaller size upright freezer would fit. The 10.1 cu ft Danby was one of the few freezers we found that fit our need. Having never heard of the brand we were a bit hesitant to buy it until we learned that it was made in Canada. The fit and finish of the freezer is very good and it keeps our food frozen. If the need arose we would not hesitate to buy another Danby product.
I love that I was able to find a small upright freezer that was not Frost-Free. I have been using it for four months now and am extremely happy with it! It's a great little for freezer for us! Just the right amount of space for a gardener who likes to freeze a bit of her produce for winter!
A really good upright freezer. I got it to replace an old chest freezer and this is so easy to access and does not take up a lot of space. I like the shelf space a lot, and it looks like it will be easy to clean. It freezes things very quickly and I am looking forward to using it.
I like the convenience of this upright freezer and the smaller side shelves. It has a surprising large area for my frozen foods and easily accessible.
Super modern/stylin' 10.1 upright freezer. Roomy and well designed interior. Quiet operation, and keeps food in a frozen state. Last but not least, super-energy efficient compared to our old upright freezer that it replaced.
I have only just received my new Danby freezer and so far I appreciate the compact size which fits well into my laundry room. There is plenty of room in the freezer .
Haven't had the freezer for very long (only about a week). Bought it online so only saw it when it arrived. Pretty standard look of an upright freezer, certainly no "wow" factor. Door storage is pretty good. The shelfs themselves are the actual cooling coils and are not adjustable, so I would be careful when putting stuff in...make sure you don't damage the coils even though they seem fairly sturdy. The door reversal can be quite confusing. The manual shows a very basic door reversal and doesn't mention that the top plate were the pin is can be adjusted forwards or back. I had to do that to make the door reversal work, this is not mentioned in the manual which led to some frustration as the door could not be aligned otherwise. When I close the door after opening I hear this "weezing" sound for a few seconds. Maybe the inside is equalizing the internal pressure? The manual makes no mention of this sound and it really should as now I am not sure if it's a problem. The other thing you should be aware of is that this freezer has no light of any kind in the interior. In this age, with inexpensive LEDs everywhere it seems that a basic interior light would be a no brainer. The magnetic seal around the door is great, it really seals tightly. You just have to make sure you grab the door from the middle to open it. If you grab it from higher up on the door, the whole freezer will pull away from the back wall, yes it's a very tight seal. The good about this freezer is that it comes with a 5 year warranty (who else has that?). I think Danby can do this because this freezer is very basic (which is a good thing) no bells and whistles means there is very little that can actually go wrong with this freezer. Will update when I've had it for a longer period of time.
My last Danby freezer, the same product, was very good for 6 years. After that it lost its ability to to freeze. I'm not sure if it was the door suction or an internal problem.
I'm disappointed with how this frost issue was handled. Despite following the instructions provided, frost keeps building up far more quickly than it should. It affects performance and requires constant scraping or defrosting, which is frustrating and time-consuming. The product works okay otherwise, but the frost problem makes it hard to recommend unless you're prepared for regular maintenance.
