I replaced an older 6K BTU Danby with the 10K BTU Inverter. Both had/have Silencer Technology but the 10K inverter unit is even quieter. I have used Danby air cons (window and dual hose portables) for many years. I have found that Danby offers good value, especially when on sale, with a quality build.
I have not installed the unit yet until I replace the window. The unit is well built and good looking quality I expect the same when I start using it.
After much research and reviews I chose the Danby 10,000 btu inverter. It does not disappoint. Instructions, setup, wifi and cooling are exactly as advertised. Quietest AC unit I've ever heard.
Very nice features, extremely quiet, great remote control and phone app. Attractive design. Only had it installed for 3 days now so this could all change, but so far it's been good, and we're day 1 of a 3 day heat wave with temps in the 35°C range. Wife says she can hear a faint rattling from inside the unit so we'll see if that continues. No signs of any condensation yet. Recommend having extra weather stripping on hand as not nearly enough is included, and there's small gaps everywhere on our single-hung vinyl window. Energy efficiency rating is confusing - SEER rating is very low, but estimated yearly cost is also low when compared to traditional (non-Inverter) units. Not sure what's up with that since this model is supposed to be 35% more efficient with "advance (sic) DC inverter technology"
Quietest AC I have ever had! Love the way I can control it on the app from wherever I am. and it cools the area fast. Even the dehumidifier mode cooled the living room nicely. and it's very modern looking. But the best feature is that you can easily talk over it or watch TV without it being annoying or loud
Just installed so far so good. Need more time to validate this unit base on its description on site it's what I was looking to buy especially the do noise level
Got the 8,000 inverter to replace an older Danby 6,000 non-inverter with Silencer Technology. The new unit provides efficient cooling and is very quiet especially so because the compressor does not loudly "kick in" as did my old unit.
The best aspect of this AC is that you almost don't ear it because of how quiet it is which is nice. On the other hand, it is very difficult to install because of the two metal pieces at the bottom of the AC. They are not compatible with my window and you can't remove them. Also, it shuts down automatically when it has reached the desired temperature but it hasn't actually cold enough (ex. it is configured at 16 degrees but it is actually 20 degrees in the room).
I had a similar A/C unit from another company (the features, BTU, etc) but this one is not as good as the other one (the remote sucks, it barely goes off and doesn't cool the room as well). It's also a lot bulkier, heavier and the filter is just odd). My old A/C had an indicator when the filter needed to be cleaned. The only thing better is the noise level is really quiet on the Danby model.
Just purchased the unit. First time using it today. So far not impressed. I believe I bought a lemon. It is not cooling the whole livingroom at all. Plus it stops automatically after a few minutes. Have to turn off and turn on again and put on fan mode.
