Cornfield Justice - Criminals Beware!
I'd like to state right off the bat and for the record that I am not, nor have I ever been, a "horror movie" fan. However, if every supposed "horror" picture were as well done as Dark Night of the Scarecrow, I may have to reconsider my position. What has become known as the modern type "slasher" horror film (with lots of gore, blood and guts) is to me just a bunch mindless nonsense that gives a quick "thrill" to those with an unhealthy fixation for evil. The excellent made-for-tv movie "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" however, provides no such cheap thrills, taking instead a much different path. [--WARNING: Movie Spoiler Alert!--] The principal character of the film's title is not the mindless, killing psychopath stalking a bunch of over-sexed, teenage idiots that many such slasher/horror films depict. Instead, our "scarecrow" represents a subtle, otherworldly supernatural avenging force. A force which brings swift justice to the cowards who brutally murder an innocent man in cold blood. A very welcome change of pace for a supposed "horror" film. The "horror" is seen on the faces of the criminals fleeing for their lives! The script, directing and acting are all above-averge for a film of this type. So, if you like your "horror" bloodless (almost), intelligent, with a B-movie feel, and a Twilight-Zone twist, then be sure to check out JD Feigelson's Dark Night of the Scarecrow. The Blu-ray edition is highly recommended!

Dark Night of The Scare Crow
It is dated 1981 - I saw it when it premiered on CBS Oct 24, 1981 - I enjoyed it then just as much as this week - very generic for horror but still a great cult flick of the 80's
