I'm very pleased with the product. It works well and didn't realize it had a manual crank, so it works without power. I've made many keys while working in a couple hardware stores. I prefer to cut keys manually as opposed to the automatic function. Not really a big deal since I believe I can disable the function if need be. Overall, couldn't be happier.
Straight out of the box, the first key that I cut actually worked. I suggest to go online. look at YouTube for directions on how to zero one of these in because after that it may work even better. I'm not comparing this to a $500 or $1,000 key cutter but for home use or owns or manages some rental properties and always seems to be making keys. it's a good machine
The machine was larger than I expected, all steel except for an orange plastic cover. The manual feature needed some slight adjustments , but nothing major. The calibration was good right out of the box, I made a Schlage key and it came out perfect with almost no burrs. Very satisfied.
arrived in a reasonable amount of time, was fairly priced, and worked well for cutting the keys I wanted to cut. All the keys worked the first time and they were double sided keys.
Actually hasan automatic mode, which works really well when the manual shaft stays engaged.
Surprisingly heavy, it will sysu put. Instructions basically useless, poor transaltion. watches a video or two, mafe a minor adjustment to the shoulder stops. Cut fully functional keys the first time. Very handy for me, I have an older home and Lowes can't do my style of keys. Intructions don't mention it but the key clamps look "reversible" for other key types.
for the price, its a viable tool. i cut my very first key 100% perfect! but my second key was off. i looked it over and found that the key chucks had lateral movement when loose, so that one chuck was not perfectly aligned to the other. a little tape around the clamping stud removed the play, so now every key aligns laterally repeatably. the key chucks are a bit vague on the depth and parallelism. you must use the eyeball to compare the two to make sure they are both straight and at the same depth. this is true only for double sided keys. single sided keys locate perfectly. A couple other small issues. The hand crank gear was wobbly. i cured that with a hammer and vise. The hand crank gear shaft needed a flat spot ground into it yo allow the set screw on the handle to grab without slipping. Some fasteners were not very tight.
Did good job of duplicating keys. Worked first time unlocking door no repeats making keys. Used 3 times hopefully it will last?
I would definitely characterize this as a budget key duplicator. But having said that, it still can produce perfect copies of your keys. The main drawback is the poorly translated documentation / instructions. So if you have never used a key duplicator before it may be a bit of a challenge as you will need to decipher the instructions. But if you're reasonably mechanically inclined it will only take a few minutes to figure out how to make it work. I do really like the fact that you can duplicate keys without the use of the electric motor via the hand crank. It's a great way to get acquainted with the machine before energizing the motor. Overall the best feature is the price.
It was damaged in shipment, but still works. The key finder guide was bent up really bad. I chose not to return it because I live really far out in a rural community. I'll do my best to repair it.
