Excellent for low speed trolling
This is my 2nd one of these. The first one I bought in 2013 and loved it. I hit a boulder underwater and the plate bar/spring connector broke. I have hit underwater hazards before and never had am issue, but this was a hard hit due to a large wind gust pushing me to shore. I was very pleased how adding this plate allowed me to better control low trolling speed for trout and walleye with allowing to use a higher rev to keep the motor more stable and batteries charged. After replacing it with the new one, I found that I could have bought a new hardware kit for about $10.00 + S

Keeping my fingers crossed
All in all that works pretty good although it's rather difficult when you want to open it back up again I bought one installed it it stuck, and when I was going at high speed or tried to go at high-speed end up, breaking the plate off even when I held the string up I bought another one and it seems to be working. OK I made sure to grease all the moving parts which apparently it's very important. Hopefully this one will work a little bit better now that everything is greased.
