Cold water rinses this off the skin better and I have to use gloves from an allergic reaction to it, it dries my skin quickly. I would not want to live without Dawn. It clears a greasy stopped up sink, and makes things very slick when needed. It is hands down, the self dish washing King around our home.
It is a tiny 3 inch bottle similar to those mini shampoo/lotion bottles that fit into your luggage. My fault for not reading. It states 7z, but the photo looks like a full size supermarket bottle.
The smell is so disgusting, it blows my mind that it was created by humans for humans. Other than the completely putrid smell, it works great in removing grease.
I used to purchase this as my go-to dish soap, as it was much more gentle on my skin than most other brands of dish soap, and was still very effective at cleaning dishes, as well as an effective "all purpose cleaner" soap,. However, In this year (2026), I noticed that the formula had been changed. The first thing I noticed IMMEDIATELY was that th scent was different, it no longer had a mild pleasant scent, but a more harsh smell more resembling an industrial solvent. The next thing I oticed was that it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to actually rinse this stuff of your skn. After wshing my hands in it (or dong dishes with it), I ca literally rinse my hands whle rubbing them together thoroughly for over 60-90 seconds (additional seconds AFTER washing the bulk of the sopa off during the hand cleaning process), and I can STILL clearly notice th srong, unpleasant smell of the new formula. Finally, the last thing I noticed was that after using the product for a few weeks, I started to develop what looks like ead skin "blisters" on my fingers, both on the BACK of the fingers (but also on the tougher pads on the front of the fingers. I am livid that yet another company has ruined what WAS a solid product, and now I can't justify buying any Dawn products anymore.
as others have stated, the former scent was pleasant enough and certainly didn't even approach being offensive . the latest iteration is the poll opposite, it's awful. sufficiently awful, i have stopped purchasing Dawn. that said, i just read that in february 2026, that's right now, the original scent was being brought back....ok. let' see.
As others have stated, I'd not give any stars if the option was available. This new fresh scent is far too overpowering, resulting in headaches whenever I've used it. Thank you Dawn for making the switch to a safer dish soap a necessity. Attitude dish soap works beautifully and has no repulsive scent.
I've been using Dawn for at least a decade but will now need to switch to something else due to the offensive and oppressive new smell which never seems to rinse clean off my dishes and has caused my lip to swell up as though burned. The scent lingers long in the air after the washing is done and takes a lot of rinsing to get off your hands. Had to dump out a coffee as the only thing I could taste was Dawn after washing a cup in it. Even if I wasn't worried about health issues and skin irritation the overwhelming stench of this offensive fragrance would be enough for me to switch. Much like P&G's efforts to add fragrance to Ivory soap this was ill advised on the part of the manufacturer. I've seen articles suggesting that when manufacturers change to strong fragrance it's to create a strong association of the product in the memory of the user and it certainly does that. I will now avoid P&G products as the memory of that horrible stink has burned itself into my memory, as well as swelling my lip. Your product testing was clearly bungled. I've seen the official denials about skin irritation and nausea. You might want to look into independent testing in future. I would return the unused portion but I think I'd better hold on to what's left in case further health issues develop. I know there are alternate scents for Dawn, as I just went shopping, but trust is gone.
Years later and after years of complaints and concerns with fragrances - Dawn still has an overwhelming perfume stench that makes you recoil. Dawn, please if you won't change the scent please issue a fragrance free option.
Why does it smell so bad? I have used Dawn for over 40 years. This scent is going to make me look for a new product. So devastating.
Why do you feel the need to change something that has been great for so many years, AS IS! It has to be a money thing, because this is definitely a cheaper product! Why fix what isn't broken? The new scent is horrible and the formula is thinner. So disappointing!
