Overall, this is a good item. The remote probe has a 40 inch cable on it. Good for continuous monitoring of your chicken or pork or roast beef. It plugs in on the side above the display, there's a little rubber plug in it. Pull that open (the plug is attached on the other end) and plug in your remote probe. The unit powers on when the remote probe is plugged in, or when the built in instant read probe is swung open. The top button will turn the light on, on the display screen. If you hold it for a bit, it will switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. It's about as fast as is reasonable to expect. The bottle opener is a useful bonus, on the rare occasion I need one. The battery compartment door takes some finagling to close, once the battery is in. Slip the battery into the tiny silver seat along the rim of where the battery goes, or it won't work. That's the only thing I don't care for. The seat is tiny and you may not realize you need to seat the battery into it, and it's going to take patience to get the battery cover back on. After that, it's awesome.

This meat thermometer has a big bright display that is easy to see. The open to cut on feature is very nice. This thermometer is also very fast and accurate to display internal temperatures. The detachable meat probe feature is also very nice, and the wire length is plenty long enough to use with my outdoor frill or kitchen oven.

This is way bigger than I thought it was going to be. That is a great thing. If you are hard of seeing this one is a great choice. Numbers are very big!

this seems nicely made and easy to use. came with a battery and is magnetic so you can stick it to your fridge or grill. the bottle opener is a plus.

need better instructions for item and bigger print. i am a senior and had a hard time reading the instructions

It came without a battery so I had 2 and tried them both. Wouldn't come on. My 2 was in original package.. I thought I would go buy a new package. Surely it would work then. It doesn't work. So I can't recommend it.
