For the money, yes. But get a subwoofer

BlenderRookie May 17, 2026

If you are looking for a basic pair of floor standing speakers, these will do fine. They look nice, better than I thought they would. But they sound like a less than $250 pair of speakers. At low to medium volume, I rate them a 7 out of 10 in sound quality. But I am also calculating the price into it that gave it a boost. Pure sound quality at low to medium volume is a 5 or 6. But I am overly critical. I have been around some really high end audio gear and it has tainted me. At moderately high to loud volume, I give these a 6 out of 10 with value calculated into it and a 4 out of 10 in pure audio quality terms. Power handling is kinda low. I am putting 80 watts to them and they can barely take it. Don't get me wrong, they are fine for the money. I think Dayton chased the 6.5 inch 2 way towers to a pointless direction. That is unless the point was decent sound on the cheap. I wish 8, 10 and 12 inch subs with a proper mid were the more common option. Back in the 80s and 90s they were common. You can still find them nowadays. But they are typically less affordable byt a long shot. BASS: I rate these a 2 out of 10 in terms of bass. You can't expect much from 6.5 inch midbass woofers. I can tell the bass is there. But that's about it. If they chambered off the 6.5 inch drivers and added a proper 8 inch sub in the bottom and made the tower just a little wider and little deeper, and used a 3 way cross over, these would be so much better. I have a standalone subwoofer and these T65s paired with the sub sound so much better. Especially when using a receiver to keep 50 hz and below from going to the T65s. I would recommend these for someone on a budget that wants decent sound. My setup is a 5.1.2 Atmos and the T65s work okay for that. The absolute truth is, to get better sound that extends deeper, you will need to spend 2X the price. So IMO, these are fine.
