It?? on and works.
This is my 2nd starter from db electric. Both have been great upgrades to the original.
Delivery was at my door on the 2nd day.Packaging was as usual...a box in a box with air pillows for protection. Brand new starter. On my 2002 jeep grand Cherokee the suspension arm was in the way of getting it into place. Just had a friend push down on the front of the bumper to open the area to put it into place. Top bolt in from the bell housing side, the other through the starter into the bell housing. The ignition signal wire was the hardest part about the whole thing. It's tucked back around behind the solenoid once it's mounted. Before bolting on, If you can manipulate the starter to point nose down, and solenoid toward the rear of the engine allows harness connection(dont forget the red lock tab)before bolting up is the best way. Connected battery and it started quiet and smooth as silk.

This starter was installed by a professional and failed after five months of use. Was replaced by a professional with another manufacturer's starter who has a better track record with re-building starters. Now going to see if the site will stand behind their policy and return this faulty product.

The starter works. It is also VERY noisy. I also had to move and bend the solenoid connector because when it was crimped together the back connector cap was not "clocked" properly compared to the mounting screws and thus the starter would not bolt in place in its shipped configuration. My only fix (as it is pressed together) was to move the connector from facing towards the nose cone of the starter to facing 90 degrees out so when it was installed it pointed towards the exhaust manifold. Then to prevent it being too close to the exhaust heat I bent the connector down to follow the body of the starter. So like I said, it works but thats about it.
Bought this because my stock starter was going out on my 01' GC, this one delivered in decent time and was super easy to just throw on in. However, it hasn't even been a month and this one is having the same symptoms as the 18 year old one from the factory, not super impressed with the quality and now have to find a new one to put in.
