These are awesome ear plugs. I was very skeptical of these when I got them, thinking they can't be as good as they claim they are, and guess what they are. Molding them was fairly easy. To mold them you have to boil up some water and make sure it is nice and hot. Then put them in separate containers with the hot water and let them soften up and then put them in the ear and push them around till they feel comfortable. I was very happy to see that they could be molded more than one time, as I didn't get it right the first time. They do block out a significant amount of sound and worked great. These ear plugs have a nice style and look good. I do like that it comes with several sizes of inserts for the ear, so you are not wearing ones that are too big or too small. I also like that it comes with a nice little carry bag, so you aren't hunting for somewhere to put them to keep clean when you are not wearing them. These ear plugs do have a noise reduction rating of 31 decibels, so they do work pretty good.
Read the instructions first. Some of the bad ratings are due to people not paying attention. There are YouTube videos too if you don't want to read. Once these are fitted you get an easy in and out ear plug with great noise reduction. The title isn't telling you that I like them, it's telling you to like them. Yes they are pricy, but your hearing is worth it. Take it from an old grump like me, who still has the hearing of a 20 year old. The only times I can't hear people well is when I have these in.
Where have these been all my life? Have tried other products and they've failed. Here's grade A+. Where my residence is right between urban and rural. The street traffic, emergency responders, railroad and the ‘rifle range' are so close. Even a large mill/plant across the river from me. Noisy. Day in, day out. The Decibullz earplugs now make for a QUIET evening... or day. Instructions are clear. All components enclosed. They carry numerous other apparatus as well. Gentle on the ear. Literally. I recall the 80's when big-name companies gad ‘private fittings' for our communication devices. Never once did they fit my ear correctly. Fast-forward: here it is. The answer to ‘where have these been' query. These earplugs come with an assortment of plug sizes as well to ensure a valid, comfortable fit.
I received these Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs in return for my honest review. I was new and unfamiliar with the concept of molded earplugs and a bit skeptical to say the least. I suffered a partial hearing loss many years ago that was attributed to loud noises. I wear ear muffs now when using my power tools, they work well but are far from ideal. The ear muffs always pinch my ears or put pressure on my glasses and in the summertime they are hot. I have tried the foam and silicone type of inner ear protectors with some success, but all of them have some type of issues. I have often thought why can't someone make a comfortable and well fitting earplug that works well. Decibullz to the rescue, but how do you mold them to fit your ear? The molding process is achieved by using hot water. You can boil the water in a pot on the stove or use a ceramic cup in your micro- wave oven. I chose to use a ceramic cup in my microwave and set the timer for two minutes. Before starting the molding process I trial fit the silicone tips into my ears to see what was the best fit. Four different size tips are provided small, medium, large and extra large. You can change or swap out tips at any time even after the molding process has been completed. Once you have your hot water ready you need a metal spoon handy to retrieve your earplugs. Only mold one ear plug at a time. Immerse the plug into the the hot water for 5 minutes then let it cool to the touch insert it into your ear and then apply pressure to the black plastic portion of your earplug. Don't worry if you don't get it perfect the first time you can simply reheat and retry. They are great for moderate noise reduction and when used with ear muffs the system provides maximum hearing protection. These earplugs are by far the most comfortable I have ever found.I have been giving them the power tool test and they have passed with flying colors. I will be anxious to try them out a the range next time I go. The really nice feature of Decibullz Earplugs is that you can hear normal conversations and easily distinguish sounds while harsh annoying an sharp noises are comfortably muted. I would definitely recommend the Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs to anyone looking for comfortable and effective hearing protection.
Very comfortable, no ear fatigue or discomfort from wearing all night. These are similar to the ones from the E.N.T. costing a few hundred dollars. wish I found them sooner.
Easy to mold and I absolutely love them but for the real test on Monday on back to work on the assembly line at Trane and see if these are the best purchase awesome thing is I don’t have to keep on buying ear plugs which they provide but they are the ones I don’t like. I’d rather buy something I’m going to like and wear all day long and enjoy wearing them.
Ok product but definitely not worth the price
I do steel work and deal with very loud cutting and grinding machinery. I tested the Decibullz Earplugs during my work. They do cut the noise level down as advertized to a safe level. However, after wearing them for more than two hours my ears started to hurt. The problem is that they are very ridged and inflexible. Although the ear tube seals are made of soft silicone, the rest of the plug is made out of a hard plastic that does not give or flex. The initial molding instructions are easier said than done by a single person. Being that you cannot easily see into your own ear, you have to mold them mainly by touch and feel. I did this and had one that went well and the other not so well. I had to re-mold it as described in the instructions by re-heating it and pressing it around again. However, when you re-heat the material, it does not expand or regain its original shape for you to start over. Instead it is like flat pizza dough that just gets flatter the more you work it. Folding it back onto itself to make it thicker only creates ridges and bumps that further irritate ear tissue after worn for more than a couple of hours. Based on this experience and the price asked for them, I would shop around for a more economical and softer device that flexes with the movement of your ear canal.
The box arrived clearly damaged. I didn't bother opening given the condition, as I didn't want to risk the possibility of the item also having been damaged in transit and then being unreturnable. So I initiated a return through Walmart via chat online, and they gave me a barcode to scan in-store. I went to the store to return and the return associate said the item cannot be returned via Walmart and has to be returned via the seller. She even showed me the red text on the screen indicating the same. She did agree though that the item packaging was clearly damaged. I went back to Walmart.com and chatted with another associate. They said the same as the previous online associate, that the item should be able to be returned via Walmart. Clearly something wrong with the Walmart system and I'm just caught in the rigmarole. Am in contact with the seller and will update if anything notable arises. For the price, I would have expected better. I ordered cheaper earplugs at half the price (non-moldable), and they came packaged in a bubble wrap-lined envelope. This item's packaging was an envelope that could have fit at least 6 of this item, and no bubble wrap lining or anything. Either way, buyer beware, returns are difficult if anything is wrong.
