Nice mat for money! Mat moves slightly over time from rolling chair over it and very thick long carpet. The shorter the carpet the better with this mat.
Heavy chair on rollers moves easily over this mat. Much better quality than cheaper versions offered elsewhere.
I purchased this to replace a thinner mat that had cracked after two years. This mat is much thicker, and doesn't deflect as much under the point load of the chair legs, so hopefully will last longer. As another user pointed out, the nubs (designed to keep the mat from moving on the carpet) are very short, actually shorter than any I've seen. However, on my 5/8" height, densely packed carpet, these nubs do hold the mat in place, but I can see that they would be useless on thicker carpet (like shag carpet). This was shipped flat... it wasn't rolled up, so no issues w/ curled edges, as with some other mats.
I did my research before purchasing this item. I read of the tendency of the mat to 'crawl'. I am experiencing that feature: the mat does move about. So a person has to decide if the potential re-positioning is an irritating factor measured against the thin mats splitting/allowing the castors of the chair to bog down. I've only had the mat for a week. I spent hours at my pc and thus far I am a big fan of this thicker mat.
The floor mat is fine and is a very strong material. The mat does slide around a little on the carpet and with rough Velcro strips on the bottom of the mat, it seems to keep in place.
This product appears to be just what I was looking for. Most other mats are too thin and start cracking soon after purchase. I would rate the mat higher, but only after seeing how long it holds up.
After one week of use by a 200-pound individual there are relatively shallow deformations in the mat at the region of the mat where the chair stays during use.
I previously bought another mat that was supposed to be for high pile carpet. But after a few minutes the chair rollers sank into the plastic and became immovable, at the bottom of a well. I sent that one back and replaced it with this Deflect-O product. My carpet, from Karistan, has a full 1" pile, and it's ultra soft, not a good combination for a plastic mat. But it does the job. As noted in other reviews there is a bit of give in it, making it a necessary to give a small shove to make the chair move, but it's minor—in fact, insignificant compared to the last one, so I'm happy. And if you weight less than my 200 lbs, or aren't on an ultra-soft carpet, you'll probably be even happier than I am with it. The only reason I didn't give this mat five stars is that my last one, a 4' x 4' piece of 3/4" plywood bought at Home Depot for under $10, painted and then urethane coated several times, was perfect. It's just not pretty enough for where the computer is now because after a year the plywood's surface begins to fail.
The nubs on the bottom of the mat are not nearly as long as they need to be to grip the carpet. I purchased this mat because of its thickness, since my old mat was much thinner and cracked. The old matt had nubs that were appropriate, however. The old mat had nubs that were nearly a quarter inch high, whereas this mat has nubs that are much less than 1/8," high making them useless.
Can't tell if I got what I ordered. No labeling on the mat of any kind, no indication this is a Deflecto product. That seems strange. It is not the quality I expected. It does give and allow indentation by the chair's wheels, not expected based on the reviews. This is supposed to be the top of the line mat, sturdiest and thickest. May end up returning it. This is my problem buying online. I'll have to go to an office store to pick out something I can inspect.
