these carnitas come fully cooked already so you don't have to risk wondering if they're done it comes in vacuum sealed package, and you separated out in the pan get it a little crispy and then add your favorite flavoring taco seasoning or whatever that you want to the meat. it makes for a great taco bar it's good for camping, no one's ever disappointed and it feeds a whole bunch of people. I fed my boyfriend and three of his friends no problem tacos. they're just as good as anything homemade I just cuts a lot of the cooking time off for the price excellent you even comes with a tray. When you fry up your taco shells, you can set them in there on a paper towel and they're up right. All you have to do is put the meat, cheese in there... put out a plate with all the cut up veggies your people love, Taco toppings and sauces and BOOM!!! You just created a pop-up taco bar!!! This let's your guests and/or family put on what they want, and leave off what they don't, without having to be "picky" or cause attention to their unique tastes, or bother anybody at all. Everyone is happy. Let them dress them up how they want to.
Absolutely glad I tried these pork carnitas. They taste pretty authentic, I'd rate this a 9 out of 10, and trust me I'm a very picky eater AND I'm Mexican, so I know the good stuff lol. Seriously the only thing that's missing is the fat - which tastes like yummy heaven, but it's so bad for you. So even if I am making it homemade or picking it up at one of the local hispanic grocery store like Vallarta or Cardenas I always press out the fat yummy or not, lol. Out of this line of meats they carry this one is my favorite. It's flavorful, moist, filled to the brim and even a little bit of that yummy fat! Plus you can literally make about 6 nice size corn tortilla tacos, if not more. The Barbacoa one on the other hand is 7/10 primarily because, while the juice it comes in is flavorful, it could have a more robust taste. But what kills it is the huge amount of liquid/meat ratio which I'd say its 65% liquid. Not enough carne for this carnivore haha. I also like the shredded chicken which is perfect for 1 to 2 people and can be used in a variety of ways. The chicken taco kit is also a win because it already comes with the tortillas and salsa. Just add your own condiments and your good to go. Ok a few thing's to easily make with these yummy carnitas. Well I can name many but let me just name a few: 1) Nachos of course! I like them with all the fixings, plus either refried or homemade pinto beans. Must top with Monterrey Jack, get it nice and gooey in the oven and top with fresh guac or sliced avocados, whatever floats your boat, lol. 2) Homemade fried tacos. Plus taco shells are super easy to do and the payoff is great! Trust me, you won't regret the extra 10 minutes it took you to fry up a few. Don't know how? Google it my friend, you'll be an expert in no time! 3) Tostadas of course. Now these I like to slather with my bacon refried beans, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro and onions, a nice heap of carnitas, some cheese - any kind will do - Chedder - Monterey Jack - or Pepper Jack cheese. Shoot even Kraft parmesan works if that's all you got (p.s. Parmesan on groundbeef tacos or some tostadas is bomb with it) plus a squeeze of fresh lime and a dollop of sourcream. 3) I Cook up a fresh pot of pinto and black beans and when they are cooked I add in tomatoes, onion, some garlic (or also add a whole clove of garlic as it cooks then scoop it out later) and poblano chile that I've sautéed in bacon/bacon fat for extra flavor. Plus I always use Lawry's Garlic salt and the seasoning salt. Not a lot, just a little of both to draw out the flavor of the bacon, add in the shredded carnitas and viola, you got a nice juicy and flavored one pot meal! You can spoon it over rice as well. Total comfort food and so simple to do as well. 4) Lastly, the most humble of meals, the soft corn tortilla. Personally I prefer the yellow corn by Mission Tortillas but the white/regular one's are just fine too. Fresh avocado and I'm in heaven. Sweet and simple 😋
Slow cooked juicy pork like if you cooked it off the grill yourself and it came out perfect. Makes perfect tacos see my photo a barbecue sandwich with some barbecue sauce on the top and pickles and coleslaw on the bottom bun perfect. I’ve been fading these for years now because of the price cut it on sale and it’s definitely worth even regular price at Walmart. Just bought two more on sale today at Safeway having them for dinner tonight
Delicious and convenient! And for just me, I got four meals out of it so it was definitely cost-effective! I normally do everything completely from scratch so to have this already done and convenient and so delicious was a lovely treat and a treasure to find
most meat that's packaged the way this is packaged always comes out a little dry or doesn't taste very good I've always had to add an ingredients to it but this one was perfect it was moist it tasted great makes a little onions and cilantro and some rice and you got yourself instant burrito
Perfect!! Taste like I slowed cook it for hours.thought the portion size was a little small when I opened but I had enough to share and lasted at least 2 meals.perfect when I’m rehab and can only use a microwave.this saved me from having to curry and other unknown meals that were served to us occasionally.!
I've purchased Del Real Foods Slow Cooked Pork Carnitas several times for tacos and nachos at home. It makes a quick and easy meal that's pretty tasty. The meat is tender and flavorful. However, I do often add a little more seasoning, such as Chef Merito Steak %26 Meat Seasoning (aka Carne Asada meat seasoning), and then the flavor's perfect. The directions show that you can microwave the meat right in the plastic dish it's packaged in, or warm up the meat in a frying pan. Trust me, though, if you don't mind having a frying pan to clean later, it's MUCH BETTER grilled in a pan. I cook it until it's browned (not too crispy though), and sometimes I add chopped onions to the meat while I'm heating it on the stove. We recently had a guest coming over (at dinner time) with little notice. I had a package of these Del Real pork carnitas in the fridge; I had just bought a large family-size package of Tostitos Restaurant Style Corn Chips, and I also had lots of stuff in my pantry and fridge to make a large baking pan of nachos in the oven. I layered the baking pan with corn chips, which I sprinkled with shredded cheddar cheese throughout, added a can of warmed whole pinto beans, and the pan-fried carnitas and heated them all up in the over for 7 minutes. I then added a small can of sliced black olives and a small can of chopped green chilies. I put the baking dish of "super nachos" right on the table with a large spatula, and served them with sour cream and a variety of salsas. Voila, a large, filling meal that was satisfying and easy to make. Our friend kept raving about how good the nachos were, "even better than the Mexican restaurants," she said. The three of us devoured that large baking pan loaded with yummy nachos.
I love how fast this is, you put it in the microwave and it isn’t rubbery or dry but juicy and flavorful and it makes the best tacos. I seriously imagine taking this to some of my favorite restaurants and having them replace the meat they use with this in some of my most ordered dishes
Tastes almost as good as slow cooking your own pork shoulder. I actually heat it in the slow cooker. To me, there is no super strong flavor so it can be quite versatile. Works great for making pulled pork sandwiches, just add BBQ sauce...or enchiladas, just add some guajillo/chipotle paste. Don't worry about the folks complaining about the fat content. You ever slow cook a boston butt? LOADED with fat. It helps keep it moist!
bought this item 2 times and both times the expiration date was for 12/25/25 , I bought these in January 2026. Why doesn't Walmart pull this product if it expired? I'm not happy with Walmart , they should look out for it's customers even if we have to shop online and can't get there in person. I depend on Walmart because I have a handicap and can't drive there.
