I switched from a Nespresso pod machine after a few years use. This De Longhi machine makes European style espresso- single or double shots. You will need another option, like a Cheney, for a “normal” mug of coffee. After a few trials it has become easy to operate. The steamer is also an easy and efficient accessory if you want latte or other hot milk drinks.
Very easy to use and the espresso brewed is fantastic! My sister in law has one and raved about it and for the price, you cannot beat it. It does not take up a lot of counter space in the kitchen which was a huge factor for me when looking. Highly recommmend!
When first unboxing, thought the machine looked a bit small and had some doubts as to its function. After using it for a couple of weeks can only say THIS MACHINE ROCKS!! If you follow the instructions, can guarantee you will be able to make one of the best coffee drinks EVER. Perfect every time!!
So far I am happy with this machine. It's compact and fits my small kitchen perfectly. I wish the white had been in stock but the silver is pretty too! So far I'm not 100% satisfied with my espresso—but I think it's a me problem and I just have to perfect my espresso making skills. I feel this machine is fully capable of creating a great shot. I just need some more practice and a bottomless portafilter upgrade is in my future. I have had some struggles with the milk steamer. It turns off for no apparent reason in the middle of steaming. Again it may just be me but the imperfect shots and struggle with the steamer is the reason for 4 stars. Overall solid machine!
I have had much more professional machines in the past but I like the simplify of this machine. So far, maybe five coffee's it's good. Let's see what the future brings. I have used the coffee pods and only tow pods of seven were actually adequate as the others delivered what looked like tea. I like the cleanest of the pods but this morning I had to use coffee (espresso) for a good version - not the coffee maker's issue.
A little bit of a learning curve in frothing and making shots of espresso (even with a little experience on same machine from a friend). Was having some difficulty with frother working at first but then figured it out and now it requires a bigger container to froth to good temperature without overflowing. Overall it's been a fun experience enjoyable!
Great more basic model for the price. I wish the tamper they gave you wasn't plastic, and the portifilter is aluminum rather than stainless steel so it deteriorates in quality over time. The steam wand is also really short. Have had my machine for over a year and it still steams milk really well, and makes good tasting espresso. There could be more crema from the shot and I've tried everything I possibly could within available resources to get a better shot (different coffee brands, pressure while tamping, slight adjustments in amount of coffee in the portifilter and grind size), but nothing really changes it.
Some improvements over my 6 year old Dedica that I had to replace due to it's switch being faulty. I makes a decent espresso. I never get the same flavor using the same freshly ground beans as my favorite coffee shop does. The updated Frother is way better. The price was good but I now wish I'd gotten a real professional machine.
Don't dare use anything but distilled water on the Dedica Deluxe because it will scale up and the manufacturer's descaler never works. But for this problem which has an easy inexpensive work-around, the Dedica DeLuxe just hums along. È un maestro della crema.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. The first espresso we made water poured out from under machine. Everything is assembled correctly but it keeps leaking water. Trying to return it and customer service is not responding.
