I would say Wal-Mart prices are very good for in-stock items, but when it comes to some prices by a third-party vendor, it can be a turn-off at times! Third- party pricing is the only reason why I gave Wal-Mart a total rating of 8 instead of a 10 as two of the DVDs I purchased were from a third-party vendor with an average price at $24.00 for each season, while Wal-Mart's average price for each season of TV show's season was around $14.00 each.
A Brilliantly Balanced Season of Wit, Heart, and Social Commentary Designing Women Season 4 is a masterclass in television writing, seamlessly blending sharp comedy, biting social commentary, and deeply heartfelt moments. This season is a standout in the series, as it fully embraces the dynamic chemistry between its core cast while also tackling meaningful issues with intelligence and humor. The Sugarbaker women—Julia (Dixie Carter), Suzanne (Delta Burke), Mary Jo (Annie Potts), and Charlene (Jean Smart)—are at the peak of their comedic and dramatic powers. Dixie Carter's Julia remains the fiery, outspoken moral compass of the group, delivering unforgettable monologues that cut through nonsense like a knife through butter. Delta Burke's Suzanne continues to be the show's secret weapon, mixing self-absorbed vanity with unexpected vulnerability, making her one of the most layered comedic characters of the era. Annie Potts' Mary Jo is at her sarcastic, neurotic best, while Jean Smart's Charlene is the heart of the show, with her sweetly earnest approach to life providing balance amid the chaos. The addition of Anthony (Meshach Taylor) in a more prominent role only enhances the season, as his interactions with the women bring an added layer of humor and depth. What sets Season 4 apart is its fearlessness in addressing real-world issues. From gender inequality to race relations, the show never shies away from difficult topics but does so with wit and warmth, making its messages all the more impactful. At the same time, the comedy remains razor-sharp, filled with clever dialogue and unforgettable one-liners that hold up decades later. Season 4 is Designing Women at its absolute best—hilarious, heartfelt, and unafraid to be bold. The performances are stellar, the writing is top-notch, and the blend of humor and poignancy makes it one of the greatest seasons of television ever produced.
The dvd arrived quickly. I was happy to get this at such a reasonable price so that I can watch this season when I choose.
i ordered 3 seasons of this show, they all play great and arrived earlier than expected. thank you Walmart. 🤓
I love "Designing Women". I especially love Suzanne.
A great continuation to a wonderful series, a fun series to watch.
wonderful show to see again and fast delivery.
Delighted with this purchase. A bit expensive but I've looked for it for years.
As far as quality one of the dvd is messed up.
I think this is perhaps one of the worst shows written for television. The writer found from the pilot episode, that if Dixie Carter did a long venomous rant on someone, it drew big audience reaction. So they continued that activity for nearly every other episode. You literally wait for Dixie to blow up. They also had to take-up a "cause" with many episodes to the point where you feel you are being indoctrinated instead of treated to entertainment. Their constant complaining is exhausting. Had these girls been allowed to be their comical "selves", the show could have fared better.
