This is another great Dewalt product. It worked perfectly for the job I needed to perform with it.
I purchased this product recently and have been completely satisfied with the results. It surpassed all of my expectations.
Small and fits in most places however, the motor is lacking in torque. Drilling small holes at a right angle is OK up to 5/15", after that it gets kinda difficult. If you are trying to drill holes in masonry at a right angle, forget it, unless there 3/16". Will Not Drive a 3/16" Tapcon at a right angle.
If you need a no-frills right angle drill, this will do it. It's not overly powerful, and struggles to drill larger holes in 2x lumber with spade bits or augur. I've used mine a fair amount, and it's held up well.
Broke almost immediately (started smoking during use and had very little torque)
The unit has lots of torque and basically works as advertised. However, the brushes in the motor keep failing. This occurs after the motor has stalled several times drilling with a larfe spade in seasoned wood. I use a 4AH battery witht he drill. There is no over-current protection for the motor and generally it runss very hot under load. A re-design wiith a brushless motor like the Rigid or Ryobi models would be appreciated
I bought this two weeks ago to use on wiring a new house. It worked fine drilling one inch holes through the webs of i-joists, but stalled drilling through a sill plate. Unfortunately, once it stalls the stall current smoked the motor before I managed to get off the trigger. It's dead now after about ten minutes total operation.
Worked great...the first time, but I only got about a half dozen uses out of this product in six months time. I am a busy electrical contractor and I bought this for the "every once in a while" tight spot to drill a hole for wiring. and it burnt up with a simple 3/4" bit. I personally love Dewalt tools, and this doesn't sway me, but wont purchase another one of these.
Purchased 3 weeks ago from lowe, drilled 3 holes in dimensional pine lumber, drill burned up on third hole. I have read other reviews of this happening. I have owned dewalt cordless since the 14.4volt....very disappointing to have this happen.
I bought this tool in January and after light service i.e. turning screws, the rings holding the chuck came off. I've used this tool for a total of maybe 1.5 hours. Lame.
