I bought this saw as smaller option to my large gas saw. It works very well and has enough power for most clean up jobs. My only complaints are the delay when I squeeze the trigger, and the fact that it has leaked bar oil since day 1. Not deal breakers, but still issues.
The unit works awesome, one problem, when cutting logs or 2 x 4', if the saw stalls , and you try to pull the blade out, the cut is the same size as the rivet at the end of the blade, you can't pull it out, can we get a wider chain for the unit
I like the product. My wife handles it without a problem and she feels safer than with the big gas powered. Unfortunately, the first one I had lasted about 9 months of very limited and light duty use. Would I recommend it? Yeah, but doesn't last well.
I am overall pretty satisfied with this saw. I purchased it over a year ago to use for cuts around the house and the occasional tree trimming side work. I am a professional commercial plumber so this saw does not come on the jobsite with me as I have no use for it there. However when I bought this saw I was doing a whole lot of side work gardening and building decks and I found many uses for this saw including cutting deck posts. It produced great power and not having to mix gas and oil is a huge benefit of this saw. I have to mention that this saw does have a couple downfalls though. I believe there is something wrong with the bar and chain oil dispenser on this saw as it seems to put out an absurd amount of oil which causes it to run out quite quickly. Also when this saw sits in my garage it constantly leaks oil so my shelf is now covered in oil and I hate putting this thing in my truck as it gets oil wherever I set it. The other thing about this saw that bothers me is that the chain tension adjustment seems to always loosen itself after a few cuts. as a result I am always checking the chain tension on this saw and tightening it back up. I've had quite a few chains peel off while cutting due to this design flaw. its a good thing I don't have to take the saw apart to tension the chain otherwise I would be quite upset. Other than those flaws, this saw is a great option for the homeowner or general contractor. I cant say its the best option for a professional trimmer yet but maybe the next generation of this saw will be better
I bought this saw a few months or so ago. We had freezing rain and a lot of branches came down everywhere. The saw worked pretty good but like everyone else says, it leaks oil. I set it down on my work table and picked it up to notice oil soaking in my table top. I would give more stars because it performed well, but because the leak i couldn't
I bought this saw several months ago and have only used it a few times. It works great but leaks bar oil out the bottom. It is NOT an O ring issue on the filler cap. Internet searches have shown that the oil tank leaks at the sealing points for the cap adapter and the vent and oil line points due to a seam issue in the tank molding. DeWalt's suggestion to empty the oil tank each time after use is ridiculous!. My other gas powered saws don't require this. DeWalt needs to fix this issue properly. All of my other DeWalt power tools are great quality, this product falls short of what I expect from DeWalt.
I live on about 3/4 of an acres, and had a lot of limbing to do. This little guy worked great when it worked, but unfortunately only lasted about 18 months. Not sure what the warranty is, but it will no longer operate...it simply clicks. Buyer beware.
this is 2025 , the chainsaw they sent me a 2021 model. how is that even possible.? i will tell you. they got alot of them real cheap and sell them to us the customer like its a 2025!! no thanks!!
Just like all the other reviews say, it constantly leaks oil, making a mess everywhere. Dewalt's official advice is to drain the oil after every use, but it STILL leaks oil even when doing that. I own over 100 Dewalt tools, and this simply does not come anywhere close to what I expect from Dewalt. I even own the Dewalt handheld pruning chainsaw which does not have this problem, and from what I hear, even the newer models of this saw have had the issue fixed.
I used this saw to trim some and cut down a few small trees on my property. I liked the way it cut and was comfortable in my hands. However I was terribly disappointed when I set it down for a while just to realize that all of the oil leaked out of it. In my opinion this saw does not live up to the dewalt brand.
