your website has too many steps that make things hard to log in and purchase products. My suggestion is to keep it simple.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a much needed tool in the growing flex advantage lineup, as a remodel contractor I use stud and joist drills quite often for running plumbing and electrical, I have been using there 60 V flex volt version which is a beast but quite hefty and sometimes it's nice to have some thing a little bit more compact but still with great power this drill does that, it is nice to have the quick Chuck as well still definitely a heavy duty tool that has no problem getting through even the old studs in 100 year old homes I remodel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Drills through wood studs with ease. Working in 16” OC space. I used this while finishing a basement. The unit had the perfect amount of power for running the plumbing and electric through the new wood studs.
Just wow is all I have to say I use this everyday on the job site. I am a plumber and use it to drill out all my holes for pipe. It's super powerful and reliable it never fails me. I have seen the electricians come in and use these to. If you are working in new construction or even service calls and you need to install new pipe this is your tool. I 100% recommend plus the quick connect is amazing for fast switching of blades. But seriously best hole hawg ever!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At a bit over 10lbs bare tool and around 14lbs with my 9AH FlexVolt battery, this stud and joist drill is quite powerful. I've been using this stud drill on job sites for the last 2 weeks now, putting it through1 inch auger hole drilling for electrical conduits and the occasional Pex pipe hole drilling. Not once has it bogged down when coming into a wood knot or errant nails. Typical of most stud/joists drills, this drill has extremely high torque while maintaining a low RPM to rip through the thickest of Joists and Studs. Build quality if quite good as is typical of most premium Dewalt tools. with a 6AH or 9AH battery, the tool is very well balanced. Most vertical drilling requires little to no effort as the weight of the tool itself helps maintain auger pressure, same goes for horizontal of upside down drilling overhead. On a ladder held overhead, the balance nature of the tool minimizes arm strain in my opinion as the center of gravity of near the handle. With a 9Ah battery I averaged 3 days of on site use before battery required charging. Most days i'm drilling around 180 to 190 holes running conduit, BX, Romex and Pex. Get a set of good auger bits to go with this tool and you won't need to think about anything else. You will need to use 7/8" auger bits with this tool (IE the norm). Being able to no lose the cord finally and have the freedom to stud/joist drill without worrying about cords and cable getting in the way, especially up on a ladder is great. This tool fills that void and makes my work a lot safer. Well done DeWalt! Now all I need is 3 more for the rest of my crew.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very powerful! Flex volt. 7/16” quick change. Very heavy duty and well balanced. The E clutch is an arm saver and works perfect. I really like the top handle. At first look it seemed kind of awkward but using it was a different story, very well balanced giving perfect leverage. I ran it today with 20v 5amp battery, drilled 16 holes smooth as butter and battery still showing full charge. Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This drill is awesome!! If you don't like reading detailed reviews, in short, this thing is a must have!! If you are involved with drilling large diameter holes or if you are in a trade that requires you to use auger bits through multiple layers of 2-by material and sheeting, GET IT. I have owned/used this drill for about 10 days now, almost daily, and it has been a real workhorse in my tool bag! I have used this for drilling a 6 in diameter hole for venting a range hood above a stove, drilling through multiple 2-by material and flooring for chasing wires and water lines, and various other tasks as a one time use. I am a handyman that needs a tool(s) that can help me with multiple tasks, and this drill is a very convenient item. I am not saying it replaces my typical pistol grip drill/driver, but for the many serious diameter/deep boring holes needed, this is now my go-to! Why? 1. SAFETY!!! Before anything else, PERFORM PROTECT shut off. I don't care how skilled you are and how many years in the trade you have, when drilling with a self feeding auger bit, or a 6 in hole saw, ANY drill has the potential to catch and yank your arm off. As with my 6 in hole, it grabbed and immediately shut off. I was up about 15 feet cutting the hole from the outside to meet the hole I started on the inside. With the power this thing has, there ran the potential for serious injury (Falling off or ripping my arm off as it spun). 2. Power!! This thing has some serious gas!! Drilling a 6 in hole to the outside of a house, No Problem. Drilling Multiple 1 in diameter holes through joists and flooring, No Problem. 3. Battery/Battery Life!! I only had to switch out the battery 1 time. Again, I have used this in the Handyman setting, meaning I am not drilling 200 plus holes in a day, but considering I put 1 battery on, and it worked for me the entire day, never worrying about a dead battery, Awesome! Also, the fact that it is with the Flexvolt Advantage line up is a must have anymore. I started off my 20v tool arsenal with only the 20v batteries, and to have to purchase hundreds of dollars on batteries alone to use the flexvolt line originally was a bummer. Now I can slowly grab those extra flexvolt batteries as needed with the advantage lineup. The fact I can use either a regular 20v battery or a Flexvolt battery is a convenience worth its weight in gold. Never out of luck in a pinch! 4. Quick Connect Chuck!! I will say, I was not fitted before getting this drill for the 7/16" quick connect chuck, and I really didn't want to spend the money converting my many already owned bits to the larger quick connect size, but I did......I am never looking back!! To be able to easily go from drilling a large hole with a hole saw kit, straight to an auger bit is awesome. As we all know, time is money, and you are not losing it in the changing of bits anymore Now, the only downside, which quite honestly is a given, but still one that can drain on someone using this tool day in and day out, is the weight. It is very competitive to other brands weight wise, and I think Dewalt did a great job with the quality of the tool and the weight, but it is still heavy once you add the flexvolt battery. Again, not a reason to pass this quality tool up, but you don't want this as your only drill in the tool bag, it has its specific purpose. Overall, extremely happy with this item!! Great job DeWalt!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] DCD4485B What a powerful and smooth tool. Wow… a solid tool, performance is beyond expectations. Now that the holidays are over, I was working on a remolding job involving an extension to an existing residence that was ready for our crew this past weekend. Just to put this into perspective, a two story with and extended attic. Because I am a nice guy …I let the plumbing guys know I had this new tool and I prepped all three floors for wiring and plumbing access. Needless to say, they had no objections…LOL. I found the drill to be a great addition to my arsenal. I completed prep on all three floors in the half the time I am used too. I did use a 60V 12 Amp and found no need to worry about running out of power. I found the ability to go between different bits effortless. I appreciated the quick-change hex connection. That was very efficient. I felt the weight and balance were appropriate considering the massive and smooth and power this tool provided. As far as the I the grip was ok, I would prefer a barrel type grip and position the LED a little bit higher on the tool, but still able to position the light towards the work. As far as bits I would like to see more bits available for the tool. An excellent tool and I look forward to using it on future jobs.
If you are looking for a joist drill to get the job done, this one is awesome. First, the power is amazing. I have uaed this for various tasks, large hole saw, deep auger holes, and to no problem, it met my needs! Second, the battery life with all the power is quite impressive. I used a flexvolt battery when drilling the holes, and although I wasnt srilling 100 plus holes as an electrician may, I barely dropped a single var on my battery. Third, perform/protect. I cannot speak enough for the safety of this item. For the few times the drill grabbed on the hole saw bit, it shut off, and saved my hands from flying around from the torque. Lastly, its ergonomics is top notch. The feel of the tool when using and the comfort is great. I really believe the balance and comfort while using can make handling this beast of a drill all day less cumbersome. In short, a must have!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall great tool for drilling studs to run electrical and plumbing. First time using a drill with the anti kick back which is a wrist saver. Wish I would have had one sooner. It's heftier than a regular drill but makes it for it in the ease of use. Also let's you to fit it in a little smaller areas than a conventional drill. The main down side is the handle on top of the bit, it can get in the way but easily removable for tighter spots.
