I needed another lightweight drill, with torque-limiting capability/setting also. This one fits the bill, also has 2-speed switch on the body for when you need a bit more grunt, and fits all the Dewalt 12v DCB120 and DCB122 batteries I also use on the DCF813 impacts and the DCL510 flashlights. It's maximum drill size is 3/8ths, however, so if you need a battery powered drill for 1/2 inch drill bits, this isn't the right one. The head precision is also very stable and I have no problem establishing center for an un-piloted hole, or maintaining good stability/rigidity as the hole depth gets greater with small bits. All-in-all, the best fit for the price. I am a professional mechanic/technician, so I need to be able to depend on and trust my tools. It also fits the hand well and doesn't tire you when using for extended periods.
it works great.
excellent drill
I have to say first that I am NOT a contractor or builder, exactly. I work with musical instruments and do my own work at home on household repair and maintenance. Up until this year I had never owned a tool that wasnt the highest powered you made. I have had my eyes opened. This 12V series is a game changer for me personally. I dont need 20V power for everything. I do a lot of precision work and I do not have the space for standing drill presses and fixed tool locations. The 12V series has plenty of power and battery life for over 90% of my jobs. Wood, metal, pvc, no matter what it is, I need precise control and if I overdo it, I can destroy an instrument worth thousands. Don't get me wrong, I still use my 20V when I need it, but the 12V drill and 12V impact both are what sit on my workbench now and never leave. I love every DeWalt tool I own, but if I have to only have one beside me and work all day long, the 12V are now my go to. Amazing run time and strength without overpowering what I am doing.
I've been using this item for years now and it never leaves my work (aircraft maintenance) because of how much I use it there. It's strength matched with it's diversification for jobs while also being so light and compact makes it an amazing tool for almost every job need a power tool for.
I have had mine for almost 10 years, Of course the original release version and its still amazing. I have used this version and it seems to be just as good. I don't think I will ever switch brands due to the reliability of this brand.
Perfect drill for projects around the house. The battery has plenty of drilling and driving power, and also has excellent battery life!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this for a while and it is my go to drill. It is powerful and the batterys are long lasting. I have used it on all of my project sence I purchased it. Great tool.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few months ago and the power is stunning. Using the 12v 5AH battery, I would put it up against a standard 20v with a 2ah battery and this one beats it. Wonderful product.
Dewalt has the best tools with the most reliability absolutely love your products [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
