DeWALT DCD771C2 - 20V 1.3Ah Cordless Drill/Driver Kit

This was my first DeWalt power tool and I love it! Fairly inexpensive and very easy to use. I made a wood headboard using the driver. I did it with no help becuase of how easy the drill made the job. Good 1/2” chuck drill for work/home applications. 1500 max rpm. Comes with (2) 1.3 Ah batteries and charger and bag. Batteries charge in 30 min. Only downside to this drill is a brushed drill and not brushless !!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Had a 20 year old clumsy drill that I wanted to replace. Free multiple screw driver bit set a great inclusion. Case to hold it all together is marked convenience. Added one of my drill bit sets & I'm ready for most drilling driving jobs without other accessories!

I've been using the DeWalt DCD771C2 for a while now, and it's a really solid drill. It's compact and lightweight, so it's easy to handle in tight spaces, and it feels balanced in your hand. This is a surprisingly rugged drill, especially for the price point. I've had it for about five years, and have no complaints. I've dropped it off ladders, used it in the rain and mud, and done some fairly heavy duty drilling. It's everything I need in a drill/driver. Would definitely recommend.

The bit holder ... whatever happened to that feature?

Received one of these in a package, drill, impact, 2x batteries, charger and USB battery adapter. Use of the drill was minimal and light. Small pilot holes in wood. Changed gate latches. Odd fence board. That sorta thing. I've always kept it in the carry bag, stored in the house closet when not in use. I went to wire wheel a piece of metal before paint prep, an the drill started smoking and started on fire. Some sort of electrical issue in the motor by where the flames originate from. (No, it not the electric motor sparking. It actually billows smoke with flames! I can reproduce this effect, alas you don't support video upload. Poor workmanship / design IMO. I'll be going with another brand (US city name) next purchase. I have that brand at work and they have never let me down.

I have had this piece of junk for just over 5 months now. About a month after I purchased it the low gear gave out in it. I should have returned it then it has struggled doing basic drilling tasks to the point of smoking and getting very hot. Finally today it gave up completely!! I have other Dewalt cordless power tools and I have not had any problem with them, in fact I'm impressed with the torque and power they deliver. I'm not sure what is wrong with this product.

Had the first one since 7/12/17, and I've rarely ever used it. Just needed to do stuff around the house. When I'm drilling and I let go of the trigger the brake causes the drill to fall out no matter how tight I tighten the chuck. I also tried maybe slowing down on the trigger but that made it worse. I purchased the same model on 6/2/19 to see if this is a common problem. Lo and behold the same issue and this one is brand new. Not sure what the problem is, but this seems to be a poorly made drill and I'm surprised that it carries the DeWalt name. This may be my last DeWalt purchase, totally shocked by the quality.
