Great drill at a great price. This is compact and powerful.

I own and have worked with several models of DeWalt drills, power tools, yard and garden equipment and have never been disappointed. This drill is one of my daily go-to's with many of my projects at home, for friends, and as a retiree my wife provides a vigilant list of uses for my DeWalt collection. I received this as a retirement gift and it has served me well as the back up to my matching impact driver. It's ergonomic, has plenty of power and battery life is excellent. My primary use is for drilling pilot holes for threaded fasteners that I then install with the impact driver, which is very convenient for repetitive operations like framing with screws or sheet metal work. I've used it regularly for the past couple of years with no issues like other reviewers have noted. It does everything I need as a hardcore DIYer.

This model DCD793 has problem with the forward/reverse switch. THe drill motor will switch between forward and reverse without me moving the switch. Dewalt has repaired it twice and the 3rd time it happened, they sent me a new one. After 2 weeks and light use, it's switching between forward and reverse all by itself again. Very frustrating!

I am not sure what DeWalt has done to their drills. My first one last many years, my second lasted a little over two years. This one last less than a year. Same problem - the gears just wear out.
