Dewalt DCS312B 12V Max XTREME Cordless Reciprocating Saw One-Handed (Bare Tool)

Beware! This little saw does not run on the typical 20v DeWalt battery, and requires the purchase of a smaller 12v battery at significant expense. Had I seen this I would not have purchased it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've recently gotten this one-handed reciprocating saw, and I don't know how I have gone so long without one of these. So far I have done some kitchen remodel work, plumbing repair, and door replacements with it. The compact size and the light weight is great and perfect for use in tight areas. It has plenty of power to get through everything that I need it to, anything prom PVC to wood to nails. I love being able to have one hand free to support my workpiece while using the saw in the other hand. It is very comfortable while using. The saw also has a light built in which is awesome while working under a sink or in a celling. I look forward to using this more in the near future!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Dewalt tool is perfect. Own a custom Wood and Metal shop and this 12v unit is perfect. Light weight and lots of power for a 12v. I cut a 21/2 inch limb off a Mesquite tree for handles and rings. No matter how hard I pushed it , it kept cutting. Definitely get this tool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great little saw! It's nice and light weight so you can use it one handed, but can also use it two handed if needed. For being a 12 volt saw, it still had all the power that my 20 volt saws have and I did not notice any difference when cutting. Just used it to cut apart an old pinic table we are getting rid of and it cut through 2x4s, 2x8s, and nails with no issue at all. Other than the size and weight, I did not notice much of a difference from my full size 20 volt reciprocating saw. Might get a little bit more vibration when cutting but that's expected since the saw is more compact. Overall a great saw and it's my first 12 volt tool, as mine are all 20 volt, and I am very happy with it. Would definitely recommend

I used this saw to completely remove a 1950's soffit. Mostly single handedly removed the it in a couple hours time. I was so glad that I purchased this unit over a full size reciprocating saw! Plus this fine DeWalt tool made short work of removing the old built in cabinets. Totally awesome!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had this tool for a few days and I'm glad I have it in my DeWalt arsenal now. I will admit I was skeptical of 12v tools because I thought they couldn't perform well or wouldn't provide quality results but this has changed my mind, it's definitely more convenient than my 20v two-handed reciprocating saw and works just as well. I thought the shape was unusual and maybe the weight would be awkwardly balanced but the extra weight towards the front really assists the cut brilliantly, less muscle pressure is needed. I wish the shoe plate had some tilt for better comfort at different cutting angles and I would love to see an on/off switch for the light because sometimes it's mildly annoying in my opinion. Overall great tool, very handy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This came in the mail right when I needed to cut some PVC from underneath a kitchen sink on one of my rental properties. I would normally use a pvc cutter but it was so tight that I couldn't even turn it to get it to cut and since I didn't need the cut to be precise, this fit the bill. This is a perfect tool for those little jobs don't need the power of a large sawzall or when you are working in tight spaces. The blades are easy to change by turning the head counterclockwise and sliding the blade into the slot. It also has an LED light on the front which was a welcome surprise. It has some pretty good power for such a small tool and fits perfectly in my Dewalt Toughsystem boxes. I wasn't sure initially if it would be powerful enough to cut much but it cut some PVC pipe like butter and some smaller pieces of wood that I needed for bracing. It's not a tool that you want to use if you need specific cuts but it works well for plumbing and small demo projects. I found this saw to be prettty useful and I have no doubt that it will come in handy while I finish the renovations on some houses that I need to complete.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I took this tool out of the box, it was surprising hefty for the overall size. It feels great in your hand, and has a knobby part on top if you need to grab it with the other hand. The blade lock mechanism is very easy to swap blades fast. It also uses universal blades that many other brands use, which is a huge plus when you need more. Keep that up DeWalt. Some other details that really make it a really nice tool are the light near the blade and the trigger lock. It really has a surprising amount of power for the size and voltage. I was able to easily blast through joists with the wood+nails blade. The metal blade made easy work of a steel track. I used this saw for some other home remodeling tasks recently and it performed quite well. I was putting in a bathroom ceiling exhaust fan and had limited space to cut a path for the exhaust tube. I could only reach one arm into the ceiling hole to cut some sheathing, but I was able to do it with one hand using this saw. I would have needed some other hand saw, and a larger reciprocating saw would not have worked. Thankfully I had this one-handed powerhouse. Very pleased with the power, ruggedness, and overall ease of use of this saw.

I used the saw to help built the wood shelf and cut some metal on my fence and it works great. I like how small and compact it is. If you just have small projects this is the saw for you.
