DeWalt DCS312G1 XTREME 12V MAX Brushless Cordless Reciprocating Saw Kit

The DCS312G1 has quickly become one of those tools I didn't realize how much I needed until I had it. It's compact, easy to handle, and has plenty of power for just about anything I've thrown at it. I use it for woodworking, but its versatility goes way beyond the shop—great for DIY projects, repairs, trimming, and working in tight spaces. The cordless design makes it super convenient, and it's definitely earned a permanent spot in my toolbox.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Saw is very lightweight and compact in size making it easy to use with one hand. It uses a 12v battery but has a surprisingly high amount of cutting power. It comes with a wood blade that can even cut through nails with ease and a steel cutting blade. Changing the blade is a breeze, just twist the chuck and slide in the blade. It also has extra useful features such as a light and a lock switch for the variable speed power trigger.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the power and the ability to use it one-handed. You'd think that 12volts would mean less power but that is not the case. This saw is powerful and small. I not it's not meant for tree pruning but I love it for that. I had branches blown down in a storm and this was a joy to clean them up with. I could hold the branch with one have and saw in the other. I have other 12v tools, the drill, and the impact driver so this was a great addition. Thanks, DeWalt for a nice design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The XTREME 12V MAX* Brushless One-Handed Cordless Reciprocating Saw (with its variable operating speeds) is a perfectly-sized, lightweight scaled down version of a super handy tool that is more powerful than it looks. Not only does it perform flawlessly (smooth as glass) for extended periods of time doing multiple cuts, it easily fits in awkward places that the full size reciprocating saw (which is also a fine hand tool) cannot possibly compete with, let alone match. In fact, I really wish this tool existed when I was cutting inch and half galvanized pipes that were in the walls and ceilings of an older house with an old steam heating system I had to remove. Working upside-down would have been much, much, less strenuous and time-consuming. While it makes cutting through standard pieces of wood or metal (like screws and nails sticking out) a breeze using only one hand, I have discovered it is also a superb gardening tool. How so? I've used it proficiently to trim dozens of unwanted tree and shrub branches on a single charge without the traditional fatigue brought on while using a bulky and much heavier full-size saw. In fact, it can be used in places that would be impossible with the larger saw, and swapping out blades is one, two, three child's play ~ quick and easy. It becomes a sort of extension of your own hand ~ literally. You can even use it while being on a ladder with no problems. It's that good. While I also value this tool's versatility and the convenience of having a means to accomplish tasks without having to be connected to an electrical cord, the biggest surprise came when the wife enjoyed using it too. It's lightweight enough that just about anyone large or small can use this in a myriad of ways, and it's actually quite fun. That alone speaks volumes! It even stands upright on its own (via the battery base) when not in use, and really works well between rafters in a darkened attic because it's equipped with a surprisingly bright work light. The only "drawback" is the lack of a universal battery design; meaning, none of the other batteries I have for several additional cordless DeWalt power tools fit this mini-reciprocating saw. I really wish they did, and at the very least, hope that they engineer a way to add a universal battery socket accessory to accomplish just that in the future. While this brand new tool has its advantages by being extremely lightweight without sacrificing on its ability to get the job done, it requires obtaining a second custom-sized battery from the onset to have while the first battery (which recharges quickly) is being recharged. In that way, there wouldn't be any "down time." But it's certainly not a deal-breaker. The saw is superb. It's quality is top-notch. Other than that, this baby makes me smile. It's "cute" (fits nicely in its own bag or just about any tool box) and yet tough enough to carry the day. I rank it right up there with some of my other favorite DeWalt hand tools, like the cordless 7 1/4" circular saw, and the drills I have been using reliably for years. In fact. my first cordless drill is now well over 10 years old and it still works like the first day I purchased it from Home Depot. While I have a corded one as well, I can't even remember the last time I used it because the cordless works that well. Hopefully, this compact reciprocating saw will achieve the same long-lasting results. I could not be happier with this product! Two thumbs up DeWalt!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] this is the perfect size for tight confined spaces. we do a lot of work in tight crawls and attics and this thing is great easy blade changes long run time on a single charge and the led light helps when working in low light areas

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to use this tool as a great alternative to my oscillating tool and not have to break out my normal reciprocating saw. Very useful for cutting PVC pipes while under the sink, have it hanging from the tool belt when cutting nails holding a door in, or cutting framing. This tool is a great addition to my tool inventory and not have to use expensive oscillating blades for cutting things that don't need an oscillating tool. I now even have to keep an eye on this tool as my wife likes to use it to prune branches in our big yard instead of pruners or a bow saw. Being a 12 volt wasn't an issue, and actually like it being 12 volt to reduce the weight and also the charge time. This tool has actually made me start looking at the 12 volt line for drills and impact drivers for lighter jobs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tight space? Hanging off a rafter or scaffold and only have one hand left? This is no question the saw for you. We worked it hard don't let the little size and battery fool you. We removed wall studs, cut ac ducts, drywall and trim and still had battery, cuts like butter lightweight easy to handle and best part-- A LIGHT for tight dark spaces Why we didn't get one earlier ? Think we were fools.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used other 12v recipe saws and the dewalt 12v is just more refined. Much less vibration, easier blade changes and the led light is bright and helpful.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I f do o custom floors an trim work . This little guy packed a punch.. great for cutting stair nose off stairs an the little things a big saw is just to big for an a jig saw is to small for.. love the 12v lineup..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little reciprocating saw is extremely handy. I took my large 20 volt saw out of my tool bag and replaced it with this little 12 volt saw and honestly i have not had to run back to the work van for the big saw. I have cut some things that most people would end up using a grinder or cutting torch for. I purposefully choose to push it to its limit so i know what it can and cant do. It really shined when i was removing in ground lift cylinders at a truck shop. I would recommend picking up an extra set of batteries just to keep a rotation going, but overall i couldn't be more impressed.
