Likes: It is light weight but still sturdy, well engineered. Uses the same battery as my Dewalt drill, and does a lot of work with the charge. It feels as powerful as my 120 volt wired circular. Awkward: The trigger lockout. Or maybe I just need to get used to it, seems too stiff. The blade spins upward at the front. If i am looking straight down that is not a problem. But if I move to the side it throws dust at my face. The dust vacuum attachment? On a battery device? Do I need to carry a battery vacuum cleaner too?
Bought this to replace same Dewalt saw (not brushless) that died after many years of use. It has really great power and battery life for its size. Does nice cuts and used a lot for miscellaneous projects indoors and outside. Great saw and also got a good deal compared to different competitor's pricing.
We bought four of the 5.0 after being impressed with the 1.7's and love the batteries they're absolutely great, clear difference in power and runtime. I'd say they're a bit pricey but it didn't stop us. That being said one battery started malfunctioning in our dcs565. After consulting with the dewalt service centre they assured us the saw was the problem so we purchased a new saw and the next day the same issues were happening. (Tool works for a couple mins after it's left alone for a min and you come back it will not work, you have to then reset the battery every time you want to make a cut)
Works great! This gun had enough power to get my lugs off without any problem!
DeWalt circular saw is excellent for small do-it-yourself projects.
i had ordered it from Amazon and it never arrived so I cancelled it but I ordered it from you and had no problem getting it
I like the rate, and fast delivery to my home. A big problem was the saw was missing a part; the fence-guard (it lines into side of saw, set the width of cut, and it ensure cut is straight. Luckily, I had an old 18 volt Dewalt saw I was replacing with the new 20 Volt saw. The old saw's fence guard fits and works on the new saw.
The shoe of my saw is not flat (concave), which makes checking and setting the angle difficult. Otherwise, the saw functions well and was delivered set at a perfect 90degrees. My saw arrived in a generic cardboard box without a blade. The dust-port and owners manual were included. I had not realized that I was getting this saw from a 3rd party. I inspected the saw closely and it appeared to be brand new, thankfully. I'm not sure I would have made the purchase if I had known it was from a 3rd party seller, but I needed it for a project and the price was good and I already had a blade, so I kept it. I feel Walmart.com could have made the situation more clear. You should never be surprised in a bad way when you open the box. Regarding the saw, I expect a flatter shoe on a Dewalt saw.
I bought the power stack battery / impact kit thinking I was upgrading (especially for double the price) I've had it a month under light use and the battery indicator light stays on constantly. I thought it was a low battery “feature” so I charged it fully and now all 3 indicator lights run constantly. I've been a dewalt fan all my life but now it's more about gimmicks instead of making a simple , long lasting quality tool. Very disappointed lately.
I have had this battery around 8 months, used it about 4 times, and now it is completely DEAD nothing, will not even charge anymore
