After watching a lot of reviews of this plunge base on YouTube and reading reviews on the internet I decided to get one for my DeWalt 20v XR compact router (DCW600B) for cutting small dados, inlays, and floating tennons using Domino biscuits. What surprised me is how balanced it makes the router feel compared to the fixed base, and how much more control I have over the router with the two handles. Installing the motor into the base is extremely easy and so is setting the depth adjustments. The plunging action of this base is very smooth and light, you don't need to muscle this router down like the old Porter Cable 693LRPK plunge base, I have a feeling that I will be using this base a lot more than the fixed base from now on. This plunge base is a great addition to an already very capable compact router, adding more versatility and control. It is extremely well made with quality parts and materials, I am confident that it will last for years to come. If you have either the DCW600B or DWP611 compact routers this is a great addition that will help elevate your woodworking to the next level.
Combination of this plunge base with the DCW600 cordless router is superb for routing out guitar body cavities and neck pockets using router templates and pattern bits. This base makes it so easy to control depth, which is crucial for neck pockets.
This plunge base is smooth to slide or plunge and is an excellent addition to my cordless and corded compact routers. All of my Dewalt compact routers fit the plunge base well and work well. . . :-)~
Out of the box my router would not slide into the base as designed. Tried to clean small burrs out of bore with 320 grit sand paper but still hard to install. Adjusted clamp ccw 1/8 turn and it now fits perfect. All in all very happy. Grips have great gription. Plunges easily and lock is very positive. Plung adjustments have great range and rod micro adjustment is very sensitive in a good way. I only wish the base had a machined center line for the bit center. Also the instructions are very hard to read with small faint printing, gave up trying to read. Need on-line manual. I would like to know if there is a dust extraction fitting for the base.
I was able to use the edge guide that goes with larger DW621 router. This base is also equipped with holes for a different edge guide, but with rods spaced closer together - nowhere can I locate such a guide. Any ideas?
I have had my compact router for many years. I loved the precise adjustment for up and down. My 20+ year old Makita plunge router only had a plunge of less than 1 1/2" and I had to have a plunge of 1 3/4". So I got this plunge base. It has a plunge of 2".
Easy switch over to the plunge base. Base is easy to adjust to your needed use. Easy to use and has smooth plunge. Great addition to the compact router.
this is the base I most commonly use for my Router. I enjoy that you can control the max depth you want to to and that once you reach said depth, itll lock itself there until you release it. the clear slide pad makes seeing your work easier as well
easy to use and works great with compact router. added the DNP616 dust collection attachment and made a normally messy task almost dust free.
I would like to build a jig that uses this router and its plunge base. I need to find specifications for this base, such as the screw size for the rods and the size of the hole for rods. Nothing to be found. How can someone improvise and make the router even more versatile if they cannot find the specs for the physical design of the base. I assume everything is metric except the collet hole for "standard" bits.
