I'm a hobbyist and have used this jig saw every weekend for the past several months. Our It has fallen from my work bench area quite a few times and this thing is tough. I always check the blade to see if the t-shank has loosened from the clasp... it never does. Operates smooth. The variable angle and variable speed functions help customize my work for each new task.
This saw is vibration free and turns on a dime. The blade clamp is sturdy, the reversible shoe is handy for detail work and also stays in place when locked for cutting angles. It is a pleasure to use.
high quality good price delivered on time
This is when I realized how superior DeWALT tools were compared to cheaper power tools. For years I had a cheap jigsaw and it made sloppy cuts that were not square. I avoided using my jigsaw for this reason. I eventually bought this DeWALT and never looked back. Now I am pretty confident in my ability to use my jigsaw, and I know it is because of the quality of the tool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought the jig saw a few years ago. I find it excellent. Not one problem, not one hassle with anything and I bought it RECONDITIONED! This was my first wood cutting electric tool. Now I carve and use a DEWALT planer as well. The jig saw doesn't get too hot even when going thru 2 inch thick wood for a bit of time too. I do scroll work. I love it that you are not cornered into using one type of shank design. It holds them all, Exceptionally tight. DEWALT has served me well and will continue to do so in my opinion. You would think that when buying a saw it would come with a blade. Nowhere on the packaging or in the instructions does it say that the blade was not included. The last jigsaw I bought came with a blade, so I assumed this would be the same case. I drove an hour round trip to buy this saw because my old one went missing and I was in the middle of a project. Got home and can't even use it. Very disappointed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this saw for under a year now, not much heavy use and had no issues. As of late however, the blade does not sit in the track but instead sits just to the right of the guide. This is especially noticeable when the blade is moving at speed. The issue is that the cut starts out perfect and with in 2-3 inches the blade starts veering to the right and bends. I use a guide track for straight cuts and free hand with a speed square , Im careful how I push etc, as of late nothing works and its getting frustrating .
I just purchased this jig saw and so far I am not impressed. The lock button is situated in such a place that you lock it while running the saw. The variable speed is difficult to set or change. I have broken 3 blades cutting thin sheet metal. I have to run the saw at an angle to cut a straight line. I have other DeWalt products but this does not meet my expectations.
A couple of years ago I started buying DeWalt products to upgrade my older Makita power tools. So far I have acquired a circular saw, a saws all, a hammer drill, a framing nailer, a finish nailer, and numerous Dewalt hand tools. Last Xmas I was given a model 317 saber saw and expected it to preform as well as the other DeWalts I have. I used it this week for the first time and have been disappointed. 1. The blade keeps falling out of the locking holder. 2. The motor gets extremely hot. The metal portion of the tool is too hot to touch when having to replace the blade. 3. And perhaps the biggest problem is the fact that the saw dust piles up directly in front of the blade. I have to hold a foxtail brush in my left hand and constantly sweep the dust out of the way while using my right hand to hold the tool. Have there been any fixes developed to alleviate these problems? Tks, Richard
The blade holder keeps failing. I bought a replacement and it too failed.
