I've owned this compressor for more than five years and it has performed flawlessly. It's a great trim compressor. Don't buy it thinking you can use it to shoot lacquer an hour at a time, or to re-roof a house, but it can shoot brads all day long, as long as you're not firing on full auto. I haven't experienced any of the problems noted by other reviewers. Unless I were moving into serious air volume territory, I'd buy this compressor again in a heartbeat. Bonus: it's a bit heavy, but you can lug it around like a suitcase.
I bought this 4 years ago to help with new home renovations. I also use it for mechanic air tools and for the last year have been using it everyday for building bicycles. No leaks! Only negative thing I can say is it's pretty heavy to lug around everyday.
Bought this compressor a few years ago and it worked like a champ filling tires, light nailing, cleaning, etc. Light, semi-quiet, nice design. Then a year ago it started leaking air and was unable to keep much pressure. I thought it was just due to the cold (Michigan garage) but it has gotten worse to point of unusability. Seeing all the complaints and the discontinued parts (or $-iffy 3rd party replacements) it will be cheaper to buy a new one. Not happy with DeWalt at the moment, so it will be a different brand.
I was realy impressed with the Compressor for 1 year then the regularor valve started leaking air and it could not reach shut off pressure. Now to use it I have to keep turning it on and off so it does not run constantly. Worst thing is it costs more to fix it than it is to buy a new compressor and I have only had it 2 years
Compressor is great until the faulty valve plate fails prematurely. When it fails, you will not be able to build the required amount of pressure for use outside of filling balls. I have had the compressor for 2 years with very minimal use, less than 2 hours total. Will not get above 55psi. Disassembled to have two metal pieces fall out of the valve assembly. Don't gamble on the product and think you will get a good one. Do your research, you will see this is a widely reported problem.
I hate to add on to what some of the others have written, but I am in the same position. I have had this for a very short time, and have used it for small trim jobs in my own home as well as for light garage duty (using it to fill tires, using air nozzle for light cleaning jobs, etc). It has never been outdoors, it has never been used anywhere near its' capacity, and has never been stored full. My regulator started leaking and now the compressor runs and runs and builds no pressure. I have countless DeWalt tools (I own a mid-sized construction & remodeling company), and have always had great experiences. This is definitely the exception. Do NOT buy this compressor!
Like many others, I have had several issues with regulator leaking. I only used several times topping off car tires before regulator started leaking. It took the repair center like 3 weeks to fix. Well here we are again over a year later (and only several car tire fills ups) and regulator is leaking again!! Out of warranty this time, so to the dump it goes. I will be purchasing another compressor to replace this one. really wanted this one to work as its a great size for my needs, but what good is a compressor if the unit itself leaks?!
After one year of use for filling up tires with air at home (rarely used) the pressure regulator started leaking air. Is expensive, heavy and not that quiet as some cheaper competitors.
I had this compressor for 18 months and it stopped working.I took it apart and found pump pulley is broken .Part is no longer available. It was a great tool when it works .Time for new air compressor, but not Dewalt.
I bought this compressor a little over a year ago. First major project and it is leaking air. Cumulative use less than a month over the past year.
