DEWALT Router, Fixed/Plunge Base Kit, 12-Amp, 2-1/4-HP (DW618B3)

I'm giving this five stars for what it is. Which is a high end hobbyist cutter, not a professional router. Its powerful, hasn't bogged down on me yet. Like the variable speed, which keeps burning down on the harder woods. Also like the 1/64 adjustments. I just installed in router table, but haven't used that way yet. But it will get 95% or more use that way, instead of plunge. I got the combo kit. And the case is nice to have. I will see if it will fit in case with table mounting plate installed, and if so, that will be a great bonus, as I only use periodically, and like to clean and put my tools away for storage. Hands down, far greater tool than my small craftsman router, because of all the features and power. I build the occasional table or cabinet, but just retired, and hopefully this router will do all the finish work on two cabins in the mountains.

I bought this router pack maybe 10 or 15 years ago, and it's still going strong! It's not one of my everyday tools, but when I need it, it's easy to set up, holds its height without slipping, is pretty easy to adjust, and has enough power for anything I've thrown at it so far. Having the three different bases is super helpful. I can leave the fixed base in the router table and still have the D-handle or plunge base for portable routing. If I have any quibbles with it, it's that the adjustment ring has noticeable slop, so making fine adjustments can be a bit trying. Still, overall it's a fantastic product, like every DeWalt tool I own.

I have not had time to use this one yet but i really love it's little brother and i am looking forward to cutting some dovetails with a little more power then my 1 3/4 hp.

The price point is nice, everything feels sturdy and the router moves smoothly. Takes a little bit of a learning curve if you're not familiar with using a router, but I like this tool!

I purchased the router system to allow me to both use it with my router lift system built into my Grizzly 12" table saw, and use it stand-alone to route furniture top edges which would be oversized for the router table system.

I already had this set (minus the D base) and loved it. Getting the D base included for the price of my original set is nothing short of amazing value. I love my Dewalt routers!

This has got to be the best router I have ever owned. I have never used a plunge router until now. The only thing I don't like about it is where the on and off switch is.

I've had this set for about two years now and use it regular for many different projects. Having all three bases really come in handy! It has plenty of power and makes clean cuts.
