I Bought this weed eater because of the dewalt reputation it has a poor design as far as the bumbhead is concerned I only used it once and the head fell off because it melted because its metal with plastic. It is also hard to start

The small silver grommet that the strings come through flew off during my first use after about 40 mins of run time. The durability of the head is horrible ran good otherwise for me

First use. Easy to start but I've had 2 cycle engines always. The head flew off first use. Looks like it's missing a securing clip that would bolt to tie tube. Brand new out of the box.

Bought one hour ago, did not cut grass yet and the cord jammed, the head makes a funny noise. Patrick Morin does not take it back, had to go to a repair center. Will take 4 weeks to get it back. We will use it in winter

I bought this like 2 weeks ago for use at my cottage and on the weekend, used it for the very first time. It was working amazing then allmof a sudden the head would barely spin. Come to find out the plastic had melted on the head where it connects to the shaft and now its wrecked

Bought this last year and not used more than 1 year. Emptied gas before winter but seems whatever residue shot the carbutor. Brought to my local repair center and they tell me they cannot repair as they cannot find a replacement part for this. will think twice before buying dewalt again.

Used twice and now it's broke. Can't find replacement parts anywhere. The head seems to be poorly designed and spits string out.

I have had exactly the same experience as Sanch64. The head separated at the bearing in the trimmer head within 30 minutes of first use.

The trimmer worked well for 6 months, but then the trimmer head broke. I was directed to contact MTD for replacement parts, but when it came it didn't fit. It's about impossible to get this manufacturer defect issue resolved. Enjoy the 3 year warranty, and hours it takes to use it with no result.
