I have demo 5 top brand racquets and thoughts this on was the best. I can hit the 3rd shop drop in my sleep. It does have power but I am a slice and dice type of player and this raquet gives me incredible spin. My more winning results speaks volumes. I also like thin paddles like this one. I would give it a A.
My playing background was Tennis (4.0). I just tried the Diadem Icon Lite Paddle. It is a fantastic paddle: all the power that I need and an amazing soft control. It is a fast paddle. The face surface has a rubbery feeling, almost “sticky “ that creates a ton of spin. I feel it is given me an unfair advantage 😁 It has became my number 1 paddle
I did a demo program with the light one and the medium weight one. I really like this paddle. It is very good with spin, about 8 of 10 for power, and good control. I found that I can aim the ball like a laser beam with this paddle. My direction control with this paddle is the best I've ever had. I have 13 paddles right now, and I gave some away, traded some, sold some. I seem to like to play more aggressive with this paddle. One of my demos was new, one was used. As mentioned by some, I did see the yellowing from balls hitting the used paddle. I definitely wouldn't buy a white one. I like light paddles, so I do prefer the lightweight one.
I love this paddle. It has great power and yet doesn’t sacrifice control. Unfortunately it got a small “scuff” right where I hit the ball. I contacted Pickleball Central about the defect and they immediately replaced the paddle. I can’t say enough good about Pickleball Central. I purchase a lot of paddles - always trying something new. I will not buy a paddle from anywhere else than Pickleball Central. They support their customers and I will support them.
I ordered a Diadem paddle on 6/12. When that did not show up in my orders, I reordered on 6/24. I received both paddles and was going to return one buy they were so good friend, James Ruhter bought one. We are both members of Esplanade Pickleball Club in Hawaii
The Diadem Icon is the real deal. I have been using it for about a month. It is everything Diadem says it is. It has the pop of a power paddle like my Gearbox Joey, but it has a soft feel for a firm paddle. dinks, 3rd shot drops and resets are very easy to execute. I feel I have very good control with this paddle, and it has a lot of pace on the ball. I like that the ball stays low when you hit it. It doesn't just rebound off of your paddle hi and get slammed back at you. I won my first gold medal this past weekend with the Icon. I am totally sold on this paddle. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've read some complaints about the face turning a bit yellow from the balls but I've only seen a small amount of this and I play a lot of Pickleball and hit the ball hard. I would rate this paddle just above average for spin. But you can put enough on it. Hats off to Diadem for getting into the market and releasing a unique paddle like this. 5 stars for playability. Give it a try!!!
Once I received the paddle, I couldn't wait to try it out. My wife went to our court with me during a time where no one is around and give it a brief shake down. Fantastic! Love the spin and the rimless face and the consistency of the face from top to bottom, side to side. The only downside is my wife loves it too so I will be ordering one for her.
Is the paddle supposed to be smooth? Some other paddles I tried, it felt as they had little of sandish feel to it, as a fine sanding paper while this one feels 100% smooth. Is that normal?
Played with it tonight, feels good but I am not certain if it has any “grip” to spin the ball. Will try it few more days but so far, handle feels good, good weight, has a good feel to it for power and control but do wish it had a better spin. (Still, I would recommend it!)
A friend of mine initially purchased a Diadem Icon paddle and let me try it out. My favorite paddles are still the Paddletek Tempest Wave Pro and the Paddletek Reign Pro. I was; however, pleasingly surprised by the Icon. It seems to lack some power; however, it had good control for drop shots and dinks. Even though my Icon is heavier than my Paddletek paddles it did not play heavier. It was very quick at the net. And I loved the concept of the replaceable edge guard - although I have not found where the replacements can be purchased.
