(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Why is it so difficult to get a replacment part. The lip cracked after less than a year and finding a replacment seems impossible. Not the best product to begin with, probably go with an alternative rather than buy an entire new unit.

We just had a new baby, and since we had loved our old (discontinued) diaper genie (elite - i think), we bought a diaper genie again, just to find out that this one is a lot smaller, fills up way too fast, and then gets stuck. They have improved other features. The locking mechanism seals better when you put a new diaper in. The opening door to exchange the bag doesn't break the diaper genie apart in the middle anymore, making the bag change much less of a hassle (but you'll also have to change the bag much more often). And the design is admittedly a little less awful than the last one. But nothing of that compensates the nice tall stand and great volume of the previous design. Why couldn't you make this one 10'' taller?

I received this as a gift at my baby shower, and I loved you seen it for the 6 weeks that it worked after bringing my baby girl home. However one of the pieces that is responsible for opening the internal clamps broke so the lid no longer shuts and I can't get a diaper through the opening. I am so sad my genie is broken :( otherwise I love this product.

I had this product with my first baby eight years ago and it was fantastic!! So when it was time to prep for twins this year, I thought it was a no-brainer. Not so much. My girls just turned five months old, and they spent their first month in the NICU. My second brand new diaper genie just broke. For the price I paid for it and for the inserts, I expected a much better product. One broke-okay, no big deal, but two?!? It's the lid and it's opening mechanism that has broken both times. The quality and construction took a big nosedive in 8 years. I would do a hard pass on this product now.

We have had this for over a year and is great for throwing away diapers without the stink. The downside is the opening mechanism which breaks constantly and I am having to fix it. When it breaks it won't open and always happens at the worst time. It's not always an easy fix. Overall a great concept, but could have been built better.

Our baby is not even two months old yet. The bags pop when your trying empty and put a new part of the bag in. The lid breaks, and the pedal don't work any more, I've had to fix the lid serval times. The whole product is made of plastic, which in counter is why it breaks. When you have a child your always have to open and close the lid so you would figure it would be more durable. This product isn't even worth half a star.

Our first diaper genie lasted nearly 5 years before it wore out & broke, then I replaced it with this version. It fell apart within a month. Between my husband & I, we have had to reassemble it several times. We have had this model for less than a year & he just told me to buy something else. The issue is when we press the foot pedal, something in the back isn't lined up & the top pops off. The two plastic rectangle parts in the back aren't fitting correctly, so the top flap doesn't open like it should & the entire top part pops off the base. Extremely frustrating.

My MIL told me not to get one, that I would hate it and I got sort of offended and I wanted it so I got it. It's trash. It breaks all the time. The top pops off. I can't even get it back together at this point. Biggest waste of money ever. I'll scream it from the rooftops. NEW MOMS DONT BUY THIS!!!! Get a trash van with a lid, this thing sucks.

I got a diaper genie for my baby shower. Within a week of using it, it has broken. It doesn't close all the way. When you step on the step the things inside only one side opens to put the diapers in. The lid stays open all the time now. I'm very disappointed in the quality and they are not cheap!

DO NOT BUY. I have had three of these trash cans and ALL three have broke. One of them was gifted and two were boughten. I don't know what I was thinking buying one the second time. Trying to get into contact with them if a pain as well! Spend your money on a better one!
