Dick and Jane Dick and Jane: We Play and Pretend, (Hardcover)

I read these little stories in elementary school, so I bought the book for my grand children. My grand daughter is having a fun time reading it. She likes the stories and is excited about reading more of these books. The stories are plain and simple everyday life of children and their families, including their pets. There is not a bunch of big time drama going on. No villains lurking in every corner, and the heroes are each other. None of the children are being labeled as bullies, hyper, slow, athletic, naughty, little angel, etc. This book's story content describes the pictures and is repetitive so the child reviews the words many times. The stories inside the book are short just like in the many circumstances in the everyday life of children. There are plenty of pictures throughout the book to keep those pages turning, My grand daughter doesn't just like to look at the pictures, she wants to read what is happening. I recommend this book to any one and the children in their lives who just want some simple clean reading for their little ones.

Made this purchase as a beginning book to help teach my great grandson to read. I read the Dick and Jane books as a child and it enhanced my love of reading.

My first grader loves the Dick and Jane books. The stories are short and easy enough for her to read.
