This car seat is not only safe with its auto grade steel frame %26 extensive testing beyond requirements but the purple plum is beautiful! I missed the sale that Diono had so I paid full price here instead of getting it half off but that's how much I want this car seat for my daughter! I love that this car seat folds for travel %26 when you open it you hear the seat lock into place %26 can hear just how strong the steel is!
I love the color, not sure of its specific name but it has black and grey. Super comfortable seat. There is a removable memory foam pad_do not wash this. I found out the hard way with a previous car seat. This seat also comes with an infant insert and a newborn-11 pound support (pic with baby in hoodie). The car seat was very easy to finish assembling. Any questions were answered by the manual. The car seat itself is very heavy. Not one you want to be moving from vehicle to vehicle. This is the first seat I've owned with an Anti Rebound Bar. Luckily I haven't needed to find out its use yet. My son is almost 4 months old (first pic), been using this seat for a month or two. I have a 19 Toyota Highlander, it is a tight fit behind me as the driver. But it fit perfect in my mom's 15 Town and Country van when we took that on vacation. Due to a blow out I had to take it apart and put it back together the other day. That was a task. A bit more difficult… or should I say time consuming to put back together than a traditional infant seat and GRACO convertibles I've had in the past. If we decide to buy a seat for our other car I will be buying the same seat.
by gid this this is heavy?
I already loved Diono when i used the seat for my oldest when she was younger and now will be able to use one of your seats for her brother and we won't have to change him out till he is past booster seats and won't have to worry if we get into a accident either. plus its a color he told me he wanted me to choose for his seat.
This is our second diono seat. We love the slim design. Always very easy to install. It is very tall when rear facing and fills the entire space behind the seat in front of it, which is the worst feature. We love the adjustable headrest, anti-rebound bar feature, and the fact that our kids can rear face for so long. It is a heavy sturdy seat that stays in one vehicle and we always feel like our kids are well protected. The infant cushions are well made. This seat accommodates our 5 year (37lb), 3 year (30 lb), and 9 month old all rear facing. We like this seat better than our 3RXT because of the adjustable headrest, infant inserts, and anti rebound bar. But the buckles on the 5 point harness on this seat feel more cheaply made and that is disappointing. We would still definitely buy again over other brands like Graco, Britax, and Chicco and still a 5/5 star car seat. The 3 across ad sturdy design features keep us coming back.
Of course, we can't really rate this until we have proof that it actually protects the kids in a crash - but hopefully, we will never need that proof. I do like that it appears very heavy and sturdy and it has an anti-rebound bar and an extra side safety panel as opposed to other models of Diono car seats. We went with the Diono because it does appear to be as safe or more so than other car seats out there but has the advantage of being only 17 inches wide (amazingly still comfortable for the kids). So with this car seat we can fit 3 car seats in the rear of our Ascent ( we have two other types of car seats we bought previously). Dionos are heavy - I believe that is due to their steel construction so I wouldnt want to carry them long distances - but that may be a plus if makes them more sturdy. We got ours quickly from Walmart and were pleased that we were able to save about $50 over the same model just by choosing a blue color. I think their instruction manual needs some work, because although it is easy to install - the instructions don't really help much. That is disappointing, but I just turned to youtube videos. So we can now fit all three of our in-town grandchildren in the back seat and on the recent visit of my out-of-town son and his family, we were able to fit two grandchildren and my 6 foot tall, medium build son in the back seat and he almost had a full seat length to himself. So, from that aspect - it works!
I love this car seat! The only downfall is the cup holder does not “click†in place per the instructions and unfortunately my toddler has figured this out and likes to detach it and throw it. Other than that we have been really satisfied with this purchase.
This is my 4th baby, thus my 4th diono carseat. The infant support upgrade from the RXT is amazing. My baby was born 5 weeks premature and sits so snugly in the new design. However, I hate the new crotch buckle design. Each metal connector has a hook on the bottom and it gets stuck every time I try to unbuckle my baby and it sometimes gets stuck to the seat itself underneath his body. The safe+ pod on the side seems pretty useless too. It's just a chunk of plastic and it broke when my husband barely bumped his elbow on it, so I don't see how it could help during a collision anyway. I've only used the seat for 3 weeks, so it's disappointing that it had already broken. It's also very difficult to buckle my baby in with the lower pad on the buckle because it just gets in the way right now. I miss parts of the old design, but overall I prefer this seat. My baby looks very safe and secure.
You can really tell this is a safe secure seat that folds for travel and I appreciate the solid construction! The only drawback is my wife would have a heck of a time moving it around because its so solid! Can't wait to bring it on the plane with my backpack carrier, thanks for creating something other than a plastic box to sit in!
We moved from a Britax to the Diono and while it is slim so leave room in the car for other baby stuff my first attempt at putting the cover back on after washing it took me an hour and a half! And refitting it to the car had my sweating and I’m still not sure if it’s tight enough. We never had either of these issues with the Britax
