We recently moved and I did not wish to have a dish in my yard or on my roof. I like Directv but not the dish. I decided to go with Directv Streaming. I downloaded the app and used it but it was very cumbersome and my tv remote was slow in response. My wife and I were getting upset and were considering options of other tv providers. I did some research and found this older version of the Directv Gemini Air at Walmart. I was skeptical at first so I called Directv and asked them about it. The person I spoke with was honest about what this first generation Gemini Air offered compared to the current Gemini Air that you can only lease from Directv, and it wasn't much. You can buy the new Gemini Air from Amazon, but the cost is dramatically different, $250 - $400 depending on who you buy it from. I've had this older generation Gemini Air now for about a week a half. No issues with setting up. Came with everything I needed. Synced with my TV in no time. Works almost exactly like the old dish remote. The good news is that it's no longer frustrating anymore to find a show or go to a certain channel, to get a show recorded or go to one that's been recorded . This was a great buy at the price of under $60. I'd recommend this to anyone struggling with Directv steaming using their TV remote. Just remember to get the Gemini Air because it's the one that works with streaming.
We have a Gemini controller for our main DirecTV Stream location. On the other TV, we just used the Amazon Fire Stick for the Apps and TV. That was a pain. It was so worth the cost of the Gemini.
This item was suggested when the original item I wanted was out of stock. It was a perfect replacement; easy to install, and set-up was simple.
Received this a couple days ago and was suspicious; based on reviews, it may arrive either used or locked to a previous user's account. Based on the 30-day return window, there was no risk in giving it a try. When it arrived, it appeared to be new, and I was able to set it up without a hitch and sign in to my DirectTV account. Well worth the price,
I love the product now that it is up and running. It has great integration with Samsung TVs. Giving it 4 stars because the setup was a pain. I ended up having to give it a static IP address. I suspect it was a DNS issue, While that was easy enough to do, I think the average person may have just returned the item.
Ordered my 3rd one. It had a power issue. Returned and Replaced right away.
Unit was fine and works properly. However, the new remote was clearly used and actually dirty and sticky. Big yuck.
Over all I give this product a 4 star only because the remote control that came with it had something very sticky on it that could not be washed off. I read this in previous reviews so this company has a track record of this so I will not be buying from them again
The box works, I set it up fine. But just like others have said…the remote control is all sticky on the back and looks used. I tried to clean it w alcohol, soap %26 water, but nothing would take the stickiness off. So you're really just paying for the box. You can order a replacement remote on Amazon for $15 if you want to spend more money. Not sure why this is such an ongoing problem with this seller?
Item arrived with a sticky remote (to the point that I wasn't able to clean it) and giving off some sort of black residue. Prongs were also bent. Could have looked past the prongs and the product being very obviously used if I were able to at least clean the remote.
