DIRECTV RC73B Remote

Great remote. Just like the original one that came with my direct tv. It fits nicely in your hand and feels the same as the old one. All the buttons are exactly the same too. We switched the batteries out of our old one and and hit the on button. Our direct tv and tv were already on so it took us no time getting to the menu and following the prompts maybe 2 minutes and it was all set up. The best and only difference is the button on the side is the light button. No more searching for the buttons in the middle of the night. Great replacement!

Love this DIRECT TV remote so much, as we watch tv in the dark and it's difficult using the features when you cannot see them. The light button is on the left side of the remote, simple to program. From package to actually using it took 5 minutes. All info is in the package. Brilliant idea.

This is an excellent, well made remote control. The extra ability to have a back light option is absolutely the best feature on it. I have had Direct TV in my house for several years and always wondered why it was never there. Definitely recommend purchasing this as a replacement or even a additional remote as you can never find the other one when you need it.

We are thrilled with the new remote. I thought it might be an after market product but it is not. It is a genuine directv product. This remote replaces the one provided with our dvr. While it still works it was only a matter of time before we were going to need a replacement as our dog enjoys gnawing on it when no one is looking the backlit buttons are such a welcome surprise. Set up took mere seconds, with no compatibility issues whatsoever. It's easy to use and looks great. I highly recommend this remote. It's a welcome upgrade to the remote that came with our dvr.

This is a great lightweight remote with easy to use buttons ,love the List button that shows you the shows you have recorded, you can still go to Menu to do that as well, all the buttons have the names on them to select what you want to watch on what channel...and comes with easy to read instructions on how to program the remote....couldn't be any easier to use *****

We have DirecTv and have the remote that they give you, the standard peanut remote. We love the new remote. It does the exact same thing as the old remote but this one has a backlight and my husband really loves that because he likes to watch TV in the dark. Now we can see the remote in the dark. We had to buy a 2nd one for the bedroom, even though we rarely watch TV in there. If you have DirecTv, i recommend this remote.

Direct tv remote that is IR/RF I is for infrared and RF is radio frequency meaning RF you don't need to point at the receiver . that works with a Genie or your Direct tv receiver in any room . This remote has a back light to light up so you can see the buttons in the darkest room inside or outside . ?If you have lost or broken your remote this is a great replacement . It is also good to have two remotes so no one needs to pass you a remote each person can change channels , record or raise the sound as needed It also is good in case the dog chews one or it slides under the sofa as mine often did . This remote is shaped to easily fit even small hands so the kids have their own remote . It also wipes off easy if the have sticky fingers and being black and white it is easy to tell apart from my original Direct tv remote there are stickers to mark it so whatever tv it operates is easy to identify . You need two AA batteries not included .This does everything your original remote does plus more .You can program it to any tv .

This lighted remote is a great concept that works fairly well. You can activate the light by pressing the button on the side or one of the actual top remote buttons. However, one problem is that it seems you have to press the side “light” button twice to get the top buttons to light up. The instructions indicate that this is a master on-off button for the back light feature. The easiest way to use the light function is to just tap the volume button – this is easy to find and also does not have that much of effect. As you probably already know, some of the other buttons can really lead down a road of other unwanted menus or channels. I suggest that you keep fresh batteries in the remote for the best operation – check that the included ones are fresh. I have had another one of these remotes for a year now and they do not seem to use batteries at any greater rate than the standard one. That is due to the fact that the light does not stay on that long after use. Other than the light, it operates pretty much the same as the standard one and is easy to program. One side note – you have to hold the “ENTER” (input) button down for a few seconds to change your tv input. Another negative about these smaller remotes is that there is no way to display the program timeline (to see how much time is left) without pausing the program. On the original DTV remote, it had a display button that would show this info. I would recommend this for any dark room that you watch your DTV in.

Love the look and lighting up Had 1 of remotes work fine. The 2nd remote would NOT program at all. I even did factory reset over and over. Did not help anything. So now trying to initiate a return that seems impossible

I received the Directv RC73B Remote and it was easy to follow the instructions to program the remote for changing the channel and turning the remote on and off but when I went to change the volume. I had to program that part separately. I went through the steps and when I put in my brand of tv, they didn't have my model. I tried all 21 of their programs for that brand and none worked so I called Directv. The customer service technician tried all different kinds of codes and different ways to try to program the remote. No luck. I was on the phone with her for well over an hour. She then finally admitted that there is a known problem with our receiver model and the RC73 remote and it can't be programmed to raise and lower the volume. So really this remote is only good for turning the tv on and off or changing the channel with my particular receiver. I will have to just put it in the drawer and wait for the fix. The service technician promised that they would contact me when the known issue was fixed. I hope they do. Therefore, I can not give a good review for this product as it only half works for me.
