DIRECTV RC73B Remote

Great remote. Just like the original one that came with my direct tv. It fits nicely in your hand and feels the same as the old one. All the buttons are exactly the same too. We switched the batteries out of our old one and and hit the on button. Our direct tv and tv were already on so it took us no time getting to the menu and following the prompts maybe 2 minutes and it was all set up. The best and only difference is the button on the side is the light button. No more searching for the buttons in the middle of the night. Great replacement!

Love this DIRECT TV remote so much, as we watch tv in the dark and it's difficult using the features when you cannot see them. The light button is on the left side of the remote, simple to program. From package to actually using it took 5 minutes. All info is in the package. Brilliant idea.

Lost my remote to my direct tv. This came in just on time. Works just like the one you get and didn't have to pay extra for it. Buttons are easy to push down. Colors are visible to the wye and very easy to learn to use with your tv. Very easy to make compatible with your tv . Would highly recommend!

We have DirecTv and have the remote that they give you, the standard peanut remote. We love the new remote. It does the exact same thing as the old remote but this one has a backlight and my husband really loves that because he likes to watch TV in the dark. Now we can see the remote in the dark. We had to buy a 2nd one for the bedroom, even though we rarely watch TV in there. If you have DirecTv, i recommend this remote.

This lighted remote is a great concept that works fairly well. You can activate the light by pressing the button on the side or one of the actual top remote buttons. However, one problem is that it seems you have to press the side “light” button twice to get the top buttons to light up. The instructions indicate that this is a master on-off button for the back light feature. The easiest way to use the light function is to just tap the volume button – this is easy to find and also does not have that much of effect. As you probably already know, some of the other buttons can really lead down a road of other unwanted menus or channels. I suggest that you keep fresh batteries in the remote for the best operation – check that the included ones are fresh. I have had another one of these remotes for a year now and they do not seem to use batteries at any greater rate than the standard one. That is due to the fact that the light does not stay on that long after use. Other than the light, it operates pretty much the same as the standard one and is easy to program. One side note – you have to hold the “ENTER” (input) button down for a few seconds to change your tv input. Another negative about these smaller remotes is that there is no way to display the program timeline (to see how much time is left) without pausing the program. On the original DTV remote, it had a display button that would show this info. I would recommend this for any dark room that you watch your DTV in.

I have had to replace my remote control for my Directv several times through the years. This is a great replacement and the fact that it is lighted is a real plus. It was very easy to program using the prompts on my TV and paired to my TV with no issues at all. Works like a charm!

ATTENTION: THIS IS A REMOTE FOR USE WITH DIRECT TV ONLY! Purchase this remote control if you have more than one television and/or make, or have televisions in more than one room, as Direct TV provides every subscriber with the needed remote control. Does not come with batteries, you need 2 AA Alkaline batteries. Instruction on how to program your new remote control for your TV are in small but readable print, but they are inaccurate as follows: In back of instructions is a large list of television makes and 5 digit numbers/codes for the makes, find yours. Some makes have more the one 5 digit number/codes for different models or year.(example: Sharp 10818, 12402. Read this as: "1" - 0818, "1" - 2402) Write your codes on the other side next to last instruction so you can see it easy. I needed a magnifying glass to be able to read the codes! Attention: Instructions #4 states: "using the number key enter "1"...." This "1" is the first of the 5 digits code for your television make. The 1 in (18018 in my example) Instructions #5 states: "Using the number keys enter the 4 digit code for your brand...." This 4 digit is the rest of the numbers following the 1, the 0818 (using my example of 10818) Instruction #5 for me was rather confusing, I couldn't locate a 4 digit code as all codes given have 5 digits. I was able to program my remote to my television, turning it on and off, volume control and accessing all programs by Direct TV. Included in package are a nice Remote Guide picturing all buttons on the remote and what they are used for, and stickers to attach to different remotes so if you have more the one make or model on television you would program each remote control to it's own television. There is also a Warranty Statement, please read it. I was disappointed that I was unable to access the Television only programs, like switching HDMI inputs, tint and such, so I not be needing the remote which came with the Television. I'm unsure if this is available, I didn't contact Direct TV. There is a website address given. I figured I would ask the technician to program that part if available, too frustrating for me to fiddle around with. The remote control is comfortable in my hand, but I have been using the Direct TV remote that came with the service for a long time, so was familiar with the buttons. Having an extra remote control can come in handy if you have more then one TV, like in children's rooms, upstairs and so on, even can leave one in your kitchen, if you replaced an old television or have teenagers ;-)

Love the look and lighting up Had 1 of remotes work fine. The 2nd remote would NOT program at all. I even did factory reset over and over. Did not help anything. So now trying to initiate a return that seems impossible

I received the Directv RC73B Remote and it was easy to follow the instructions to program the remote for changing the channel and turning the remote on and off but when I went to change the volume. I had to program that part separately. I went through the steps and when I put in my brand of tv, they didn't have my model. I tried all 21 of their programs for that brand and none worked so I called Directv. The customer service technician tried all different kinds of codes and different ways to try to program the remote. No luck. I was on the phone with her for well over an hour. She then finally admitted that there is a known problem with our receiver model and the RC73 remote and it can't be programmed to raise and lower the volume. So really this remote is only good for turning the tv on and off or changing the channel with my particular receiver. I will have to just put it in the drawer and wait for the fix. The service technician promised that they would contact me when the known issue was fixed. I hope they do. Therefore, I can not give a good review for this product as it only half works for me.

I loved this remote it just did not work very well. What I mean is I put new batteries and it still hardly worked. Light was bright, big buttons were great, just had to push buttons hard and several times to work. Just keeping it because I already threw away package.
