[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and i had so much fun putting this together. It is so much fun watching science in action. This kit is so visually stunning as well. We even went online to study more about quarts and were to find them, This kit has opened up a love for quarts and science as well, i love the dialog were having!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this DIY Crystal Aquarium for my kids to enjoy this spring. It is very easy and fun to set up. The crystals grew quickly. And the bonus: once the crystals are done growing the unit can be used as an fish bowl! Just clean it out and you are ready to add a goldfish, we added a beta! Lots of fun.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This aquarium is not only educational but fun! The kids love to watch the chemical reaction change the rock into a sparkling gem. The instructions were easy to follow and the process was interesting to watch. It's a fun bright addition to their room. We will definitely be getting a new one!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to receive this aquarium. My grandchildren are going to love this!! They enjoy crafts of all sorts, painting, drawing and coloring. Makings things with their hands. I can wait to see what they make and put in the aquarium.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got my 7 year old daughter the Discovery Mindblown - Toy DIY Crystal Aquarium and she absolutely loved it. She loved watching the crystals grow. Very fun project to do. I would reccomend this to parents with kids who love science.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My five year old loves rocks and crystals so this is uniquely entertaining for her. She is a little young to understand the science behind this experiment but she has loved watching the crystals grow. This would make a great gift!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fun project for bored kids or even teenagers. My daighters are in college and I thought this woild be a neat thing for them to do over spring break and it even kept them entertained. So I'm sure the younger kids would get a kick out of this. They really enjoyed it and said it was easy to do.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son and I put this together over the weekend. It's very messy so be prepared for that, it was still fun to do. I wouldn't say they turn into crystals but close enough, this is a very good STEM learning toy.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first part of putting the crystals was very neat to watch them grow, but after the first 6 hours it didn't have very much new growth. When I put the second set of crystals in they only grew to where the first ones were. It was neat to watch though.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have to admit that I am pretty disappointed with DIY Crystal Aquarium by Discovery. The crystals are not very "crystal" like. They are more of a chalky looking stalagmite than a crystal. The kit contains chemicals that you're not supposed to get on your skin but there are no gloves provided. Then you are supposed to break the grow rocks into pea sized pieces. This is way more difficult than you would think. I needed an icepick and hammer to finally get them to break and most of the pieces were then very small because they shattered more than simply breaking. And remember, don't touch them unless you have gloves on. The kit does not even come with a plastic stir stick that you need to stir the chemical solution and water together. And to top it all off if you didn't purchase your own AA batteries (3 of them) and remember to put them in before you start, good luck trying to get them in once it's filled with water. It just seems like this project should have come with gloves, a plastic stir stick and suggestions on how to properly break the grow rocks. It was frustrating for an adult let alone an 8 year old. I feel let down and disappointed. I expected a better product from Discovery.
