[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My nine year old LOVES this kit. I highly recommend as a gift for any kid from 6-12, or even a nice rainy day, at home activity to fill time. At nine, they're able to do the activity all by themselves, and even use the packaging to catch 'dust' and make cleanup a breeze. They get excited at the discovery and enjoy the process. This kit was a good value with two dig activities and two gems to find. The gems are roughly coin sized, and comparable to other kits we have tried. Overall, my kid says this is a super fun gift and they give it two thumbs up.

He loved the tumbled stones that were inside. It's not as messy as you'd think either. This is a nice little experiment to get them to understand the process. Definitely recommend this for kids that are into geology!

Comes with everything you need and we did it outdoors in the grass to add the realistic feeling of excavation. Not only is this fun but can be turned into something educational as kids can research the fossil that they found!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This overall is a dud. I'm 27 and my hand was hurting trying to break up the clay, and that was still after soaking it. It makes a huge mess because it's wet as well and sticks to your hands. The box itself also says that they have a large gemstone in each, but the gems are dime-sized and look similar to resin, and you get the same one in each. Would not recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As soon as this item came in the mail, my two kids (ages 7 and 9) ripped open the package and couldn't wait to excavate some gems. They are both really into rocks and gems and have their own collections so they were very excited to see what gems awaited them as they were digging. This is great because it got my kids away from technology. It's great for boys and girls and I'd say a wide range of ages!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me first say that this makes a giant mess and I made the mistake of allowing my son to do this activity in our kitchen... the kitchen I had just spent hours cleaning and moping.. not my brightest moment! This would be a great activity for outdoors! The instructions say to get it wet, so that is what we did. It then created a puddle of clay water/sludge, think a black or really dark gray mud. The force he needed to use to break through the cube created splatter everywhere! He had a great time with it, of course. The only reason I give this 3 stars is because the “fossils” found are so tiny, and kind of uninteresting. My son was slightly disappointed that it was all he found, and didn't care to keep them afterward.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we got the geo rocks that w though would give us a variety of color crystal when we broke them in half. but to our disappoint every sing one was the same clear quartz . it really wasn't worth it and disappointed my little one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toy excavation kit was so much fun and provided hours of entertainment for our 10.5 year old! He loved the challenge of trying to find the toys with the tools. We would definitely would look to get more of these kits in the future. Great outside activity!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to try this out with my toddler because she's into fossils and treasures. The box itself came nicely packed and I like that it brings 2 different stones to find treasures in. It brings instructions but it's also very easy to figure out without instructions. We did our excavation under running water so it would be a little more muddy and less dusty. The excavation portion of it was pretty difficult, my toddler could not do it herself at all but I was prepared for that as it's not made for her age. The problem I had was that even I struggled with picking at the clay and I'm an adult. I think children would struggle with it but that may not be a bad thing if they are patient enough to keep digging. It took my quite some time to find the buried treasure. The portion of this that was extremely disappointing was the size of the rock in the treasure. I expected to find more than 1 piece in the clay for that size rock. Or a larger rock. I would not purchase again unless they added more rocks or fossils to be found. Possibly make the clay softer and add some brushes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for my kids, 3 and 8 to check out because they love fossils and the excavation kits that have been coming out. It was sad watching them open this. They pulled it 2 sea shells. But the box showed dinosaur and other animal bones. Try explaining that to a(then 2) 3 year old. Great idea, competition is blowing this kit out of the water. I think I was more disappointed seeing who the manufacture was. This item was sent to me complimentary to review. This in no way has altered my opinion of said item.
