My child loved to discover her gems while having fun doing it. This is a great gift for kids. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my my Toy Excavation Kit Mini Fossil and I was very impressed with how natural the rocks appeared. When he opened the rock we were surprised with the fossils inside. Their appearance was very realistic and looked like authentic fossils. I would recommend this for a child interested in nature and exploration.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a houseful of little, budding geologists and they love all things rocks and gem stones. We do a lot of rock collecting and polishing, but what could be better than pre polished, pretty gemstones that you get to dig up yourself?! My kids love to receive these Discovery toy excavation gem sets as gift- they always mean a fun time chipping away to find the hidden treasures inside. This is really a product I have I'll repeatedly but for my children and as gifts for others- educational fun!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was awesome! I felt like Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic park when my son and I were chipping away at these two kits. It was a solid hour or so of fun, especially to do together, and it was super easy. PLUS we got shark teeth out of it, which are now displayed proudly in our home!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My whole family loves these type of kits. I usually give them to the children, but this one I kept for myself. It is so much fun chipping away at the item that the gems are in and I got me an amethyst and a green stone, Im not sure what it's called, but I am looking into it now, it is a smaller pack with two gems inside. They are fun and very educational for the kids. I've always wanted to be an archaeologist and a precious gem seeker and know I can with these wonderful kits!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter had fun searching for “buried treasure” with this activity kit. The coolest part are the two gemstones that are found at the end. It does take quite a bit of effort to dig out the gemstone-I helped my daughter so I know first hand! The kit also came with a cool poster-sized guide with directions, fun facts, and activities. One thing I didn't love is that the box it comes in is unnecessarily large-a lot of empty space around the actual items. It would be a great idea for a kid who is in to rock collecting, but I wasn't personally impressed enough to buy more, especially since it's a one-time activity.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This kit was fun for my 7.5 year old to do. He was excited to see what gems would be uncovered. I would recommend doing this outside or in a large bin as it was pretty messy though. Also, younger kids may need some help with it as it is hard. We will definitely be checking out the other kits.

The kit comes with everything a kid needs and we really liked that it was an an actual fossil and not a plastic toy or replica. Fun activity and educational as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've gotten a couple of these kits in the past and kids have always loved them. This one was no exception! What's great about this one though is how big it is. It's literally like 3x bigger than the ones I've gotten before. My three kids each had a large section to “excavate”. A word of caution...it gets very messy very fast! I don't recommend using this inside. In fact, I'd say the best place to play with it is in the grass. My kids got dust all over my front porch and it was a pain to clean up.
