I have put a couple of these miniature kits together before but this is by far my favorite one! I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to these types of DIY projects. I give it 5 stars when it comes to the appearance of the final product, the amount of detail involved in all of the pieces, and the fun of assembling all of those detailed pieces. It does open and close so you can really see everything that is put inside. I love that! While there were some moments of frustration, it was overall very relaxing and rewarding to complete!
You will need some tools from home. I ended up using small scissors, tweezers, and a pocket knife in place of a tiny screw driver. Glue is also needed and is not in the kit. I actually opted for UV resin and a small UV light for the majority of assembly while using strong craft glue for the rest. It worked out great and I didn't have to wait for things to dry! If you do use UV resin, please take proper precautions, wear gloves, and have a ventilated space. Unfortunately, I did not do the lighting but it does come with the kit and I feel like it would really add an amazing touch. I am just not skilled enough for that yet.
The instructions look a little intimidating at a glance but they are well written and explain things nicely. There are photos with each and every step that helped a lot. All pieces are labeled properly and I had zero issues understanding where and how they should go. Honestly, I was able to assemble most things just relying on the photos alone. The entire kit took me about 25 hours. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, haha!
I found that the quality was mostly well done, however, I did have an issue with quite a few of the wooden pieces breaking very easily when trying to pop them out. I was able to glue them back together and use them but it was unfortunate because it took extra time and sometimes changed the way things fit together. This is my reasoning for 4 stars. I think the material was fine but perhaps a way for them to pop out more smoothly would be beneficial! Overall, I really enjoyed doing it and I adore the finished product. If you like doing hands on DIY crafting, I definitely recommend trying this!
