For years, I stayed away from the Peter Davison era of Doctor Who. I first saw some of the stories on this set on PBS in the early nineties. After watching those stories from this first season and hearing the whining and bickering from his companions Tegan and Adric, I didn't enjoy the stories nor did I enjoy Davison as the Doctor. A new interest in the classic era of Doctor Who has drawn me to try looking at these stories with older and wiser eyes and mind. After watching Castrovalva, Four to Doomsday, Kinda, The Visitation, and Black Orchid, I have a greater appreciation for Davison's Doctor and his companions. Their dynamic is more like a single parent and his three teenage kids having adventures across time and space. While I still don't enjoy Adric's whining, I do appreciate some of Tegan's sarcasm and snide comments. Nyssa, the good sibling, does prove she belongs with the group in select stories. I think if you want to watch classic Doctor Who where everyone doesn't get along, Peter Davison's first season is a good example of that dynamic. However, special features like the Behind the Sofa segments for each story showcase the wit and camaraderie within the cast for this season. I'd recommend watching those segments after watching each story and get a good laugh or two.

it's Great to get the complete first season of Pete Davison era of Doctor Who. Its great to get all of his first season episodes in one go at this great price. this set includes his mini episode with david tennant time crash
