I actually love these cedar granules. I honestly don't know why I never thought of buying something like this before, what a brilliant idea. They're marketed as a natural pest repellent for the yard and they work wonderfully for that. I'll gladly use these instead of citronella sticks any day. What surprised me is how many other ways I've been using them. I filled a few little mesh bags and hung them in my closets, tucked some into dresser drawers as natural sachets and even hung one in the bathroom because I absolutely love the fresh cedar scent. The fragrance is definitely noticeable, but it's not overpowering or artificial. And I really appreciate that they're pet safe, since so many home fragrance products aren't. If you love the smell of real cedar, don't be surprised if you end up using these all over the house.
We have been trying natural nontoxic methods of pest control since I was sprayed and hospitalized for 11 days after pesticide exposure . This fits the bill for safe repellent. I've always remembered my grandparents and the cedar chest and closet. Ground up cedar for problem areas seems like a perfect fit. There is definitely enough product for multiple areas. And the insect list is good. Recommended.
I added a teaspoon or so to each of my Hoya plants to see if it repels mites. I have some little mesh bags I'm going to fill to put in with my wool blankets and wool coat to keep moths away. I also applied it around my flowerbeds. i'm confident it will work on ants, fleas, spiders… we used to cut down cedar trees in the pasture then put a log in our garage, henhouse and shed to repel these pests and it did. Too soon to determine if this particular product works, but it smells good and the other reviews were good. A little pricey.
Ordered this for ants. The little tiny ones. Smells like cedar and no chemical smell. Supposed to be safe around pets and wildlife and we have deer, squirrels, feral cats, skunks and raccoons that we feed and their food attracts ants. I havent noticed any around their water pan or food that we throw out on the patio. When you open the box and take out the bag open it outisde as the little particles get all over the floor if you open inside. The top of the bag is ziplocked which I really like.
"Yeehaw! Here's to hopin' this'll knock back the spider mites and discourage those rabid squirrels of destruction. This stuff has very consistent texture -nothing over pea sized and a smallish amount of dust in the bottom- so it was very easy to spread. It smells amazing. I am using it in my garden but I could see using it on a lawn or in houseplants just for the smell. This is an easy choice 'cause I'm pretty sure the blueberries I'm wanting to protect will love the acid of the cedar either way. Hopefully the spider mites from the nearby azaleas will be less likely to make the leap over to them... and those squirrels will be less likely to mindlessly destroy their roots... or any of the number plants they've dug around just today. I filled their little dugouts, and maybe they think twice next time or at least get a splinter for their trouble. 😆 We'll see if it keeps those pesky pests at bay. But, certainly can't lose for a fragrant mulch.
second season using and it's worth it!
I'm excited to put this around the perimeter of the house, I've never seen so many big, scary spiders until moving to Casa Grande. I need to wait until the dust storms move on by us, so it doesn't blow it all away!
These Cedar chips are easy to apply and significantly reduce the bugs in your yard. A little bit goes the wrong way to protect you and your family outside.
This batch of Cedar Granules did not work at all in my yard. Maybe the bags of granules were old or another problem; however, they did not work at all and I am extremely disappointed because they were expensive. I will probably try to purchase from a different company.
had laid this around the edges of my raised garden beds both metal and wood thinking it would organically help. Over a week passed and ants still living their best life crawling over it like nothing changed.
