I love me a downy ball!!! I have used one since my husband and I first got married 8 years ago, because our washer didn’t have a fabric softener spot. So easy to use, actually works, and was an easy fix to my dilemma for a wonderful price. They last for the longest time!

These have been around for ages! Well made and useful. Great design and works effortlessly. Inexpensive and easy to use. Simply pour in the fabric softener and toss in the washer and your clothes come out smelling great and static free, then straight to the dryer without annoying dryer sheets to deal with. Save the planet!

liquid don't come out completely some of the time

This product works well for washers with no separate compartments for detergent. It is also useful for laundromats with gunky liquid detergent compartments. The only thing i would suggest is having a more reliable hook/stopper so that a lot of softener doesn’t come out all at once.

We use these to add our softener to the laundry in a top load washer. Sometimes they work great but half of the time they don’t release all of the product. This could be due to the size of the load I put in but it causes me to have to dump out water and product.

I’ve used the Downy Ball for years and it worked great in my older washing machines. It was an easy, no-brainer way to automatically dispense fabric softener at the right time, and I never had issues with residue or missed cycles. With my current machine, it’s not really necessary since it already has a built-in dispenser that does the job well. That said, the Downy Ball is still a solid product—especially for machines without a softener compartment or for anyone using an older washer. Simple, affordable, and reliable for what it’s designed to do.
