2023 and newer feedrite bags are perfect

Suess January 24, 2025

Perfect for peacefully feeding multiple equines at turnout. As of 2023-24 the tall internal bottom seam that trapped feed was redesigned such that there is no seam inside (or outside) the bag; perfect for pature feedings, including horses on medications or supplements because each horse can only eat what is in his/her nosebag (bossy horses cannot steal feed from subordinate horses, and sloppy eaters cannot drop or spill feed). Horse-sized bag holds a 5-6 pound serving; if horse needs more per meal, either feed smaller meals more often or try the draft-size. Do let the bag air out (dry) between uses and, especially if liquid or oils are fed, periodically clean the bag with pressurized water (the bags last longer with drier feedstuffs - here in the south, moist rations eventually lead to residue (or mold) inside the bags. Bags last 6mos to 2yrs, in our experience. For the first 2-3 feedings, recommend NOT buckling the bag onto the horse's head especially for head/ear-shy equids) - use it like a bucket for 2-3 meals, then use it as intended.

Great feed bag.

Jeanne July 3, 2024

Have used Cashel bags on my pasture horses for years. Find a bucket that fits inside of the bag for soaked feed. Works great.

Great for paddock feeding

JG April 16, 2019

We feed up to six pounds (yes, we have some hard keeping OTTBs) twice a day, including supplements like oil and powders. We've had some last five years, some three, and that's with a few cribbers in the mix that try to crib through the bag. If a horse d

Extremely Pleased So Far

Linda Wood April 23, 2013

I almost did not order this feed bag based on the first 2 reviews, but I'm very glad I did. I have a 4 year old Cracker Filly who has always been a Sloppy eater. She wastes more than she eats. I've tried everything and finally decided on a feed bag. It ar

No problem with horse size

GG February 17, 2019

I got a draft size for my 14-3 geriatric Appy, who lost feed looking to see what the other horses were doing. It was way too big, with the bag almost up to her eyes. I then got a horse size and learned how to set it up (the internet is wonderful) and sh

Weight Saver

D. King from Green Cove Springs October 20, 2013

Have an auction horse we have been trying to put weight on but he would waste his food by slinging it everywhere....NOW he is not wasting a bit and is putting weight on faster and seems more food satisfied! Thinking about getting more of these for traveli

Best solution ever!

Robin October 7, 2012

I have an old horse that eats slow, looks around often, spills a lot, and gets pushed away from her feed by other horses. It's hard to keep weight on her already, so this is the perfect solution. Feed goes in the bag, she can look around, walk away, feed

New design has ruined these

PS July 4, 2021

These were great feed bags. I have used for years on pasture horses, old horses and horses on meds. Unfortunately the bottom seam and seam binding have now been placed on the inside of the bag.. Feed gets trapped between side of the bag and seam binding.

what you see may not be what you get

Robin October 17, 2012

I bought this fee bag before, but it had a plastic buckle which eventually breaks. This one was a bit more expensive, but shows a picture with a metal clip, so I ordered it. There was no brass clip like in the picture, but just an ordinary plastic buckl

Turn the new ones inside out

Suess April 20, 2022

Been using these successfully to feed small herd of 3-4 horses for about 6yrs; the newer ones have a ridiculous 3/8" high seam that traps feed, supplements and saliva, so we turn them inside out. Disappointing but effective and easy to clean, if used in
