Awesome fly mask

myty May 18, 2020

I have several fly masks and I believe the Crusader's are the best. Some fly masks are cheaper, however, most don't come with the cut out for the forelock which is important to me. Crusader makes a great quality mask, while this is one I use for in the stall or trailer rides, I also have the trail with ears/long nose for my Arab for when we are out an about. In Florida, it is a must to have a fly mask during the hot summer months as we get deer flies and horse flies on the trails.

Best fly mask

cscarbery April 19, 2014

I've bought this fly mask before and I loved it it was durable and very well made, it fit true to size and stood up to my horses playful pasture mate, sadly I lost it or someone stole it during the winter months. This is the first time I've bought something from SmartPak and I'm very happy with them. I got the fly mask embroidered with my horses name on it but the color was wrong on his name so I returned it for a different color and its amazing. Ozzie, my horse, looks great in it. I can't wait to show it off during all the shows this season! :)

Best fly mask ever, have used them since the 90's

RioV January 19, 2020

Bought two of these, but unfortunately my gelding was no longer an Arab, but a regular horse size. No problem with SmartPak, I sent them back and received the size I needed. It was an easy transaction and SmartPak always has the best prices. The exchange was seamless and SmartPak was on it all the way through to the end. Great experience.

sturdy long lasting fly mask

Mr Boo Boo May 19, 2020

I have 3 horses and only buy crusader masks because they hold up season after season! btw - if your velcro gets balky because it's full of hay, clean it with a doggy pin brush

I bought one for my pony and she has had it for two years and it looks brand new. She has trampled it in mud to having the others horse bite on it and still looks good. The quality is amazing and very durable. The fleece keeps it staying in one place while making it comfortable for my horse. I just ordered one for my new horse with his name on it and it turned out perfectly how I wanted it. It said they weren't going to ship it for a week and I had it in 4 business days. Very good overall product!

Don't buy any other

ShiShaeTag June 7, 2014

I've been using these fly masks for ~7 years now and they are all I'll buy. They hold up amazingly (had one on two four year olds [the same fly mask on one horse after another] for 2 years and both love to play, not a single rip). They even stay pretty clean looking. They don't make the horses really warm or sweaty on hot days and they don't rub at all. I don't plan on ever buying a different fly mask. (The photos are of my current horse who just wants to play all day with his pasture buds and he still hasn't damaged or ripped off his 2+ year old mask)

Lasts forever!

Morgan April 30, 2014

I've used this fly mask for the last two seasons and it doesn't get pulled off my horse, although he's the one that does the fly mask stealing.. I'm just now replacing it with the same mask because the ears have worn holes in the tips. Other than that this is a great mask for the price and doesn't leave rubs!

best fly mask for thoroughbred type warmblood

liz1 May 1, 2014

I have used the same mask without ears for many years. That is- the mask has lasted 3 summers and it is in good shape- a very snags but velco still working and no rips. I decide to get the added protection of covered ears in my new mask. I used to buy another brand that had the eye area popped out. Always got pushed in and ripped. My horse is in a stall and large turnout- not in a pasture- however, she was able to get other brands off, but not this one.

I used to think these were the best you could get

KatieJay123 January 17, 2018

But....after going through 4 of them now, I don't know that they're the best mask on the market. The velcro around the jaw is ALWAYS too large on the horse size, but everything else about the horse size fits my boy perfect. Because the velcro is so long, it provides a nice grab strap for his herdmates to hold onto and remove/rip/destroy the masks. They all rip in the same place, it seems, right along the seam where the felt meets the mesh of the mask, along the jaw. It seems for the price, if I'm going to go through 2-3 fly masks a season, I should just stick with something cheaper.

Not Made Like They Used To Be! :(

13Katwrangler September 16, 2013

I too have seen a decline in the quality of this mask. They still have the best fit and design, but they certainly don't last like they used to. Remember when they were made in black? I still have one from 2006! Color was hot but it held up and the seams were better. These days if the mask lasts a year it's amazing, much less a couple months. Workmanship is poor, they come apart at the seams within a month or two now. Sizing on the Warmblood is much larger than it used to be and the horse size's ears are too short for my large headed horse. Luckily I can sew and spend plenty of time re-adjusting and repairing. What's up Cashel? Cheap is just that - CHEAP! I'd rather spend a little more and have it stay together like it used to!
