Customer Insights: Rated 4.6/5 from 25 reviews.
This game is full of rich details both graphically and through the entire plot from beginning until the very end. Enormous world on par to Baldur's Gate Morrowind and Oblivion. Game play is extremely similar to the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect titles, also from BioWare. With the six different opening stories futher varied by the myriad choices throughout the game no playthrough need be the same as any other. This allows you to play a different game every time you start a new game, encouraged by the achievements (trophies for the PS3 edition) for playing all possible endings as well as various actions in game. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed any of the titles I mentioned in this review as well as anyone looking for an excellent, we rounded epic fantasy rpg. **WARNING** Mature Rated Content including but not limited to Intense Violence with Pervasive Blood and Gore, Language, Partial Nudity and Adult Content both Conversational and Implied Conduct.
This game is very good. Its an RPG that combines a few games (in my opinion) together. Dragon Age is Fabel II meets Baldur's Gate. The fighting style is not my favorite, you click who you want to attack and then you keep attacking with out pressing any other buttons, I prefer to button smash like you can in Fabel. Overall, a very good game.
As an avid RPG fan, I think this game is fantastic. It is slightly slower paced than Mass Effect or KOTOR but it still retains all of Bioware's trademarks. In the game, you choose your race (Elf, Human, Dwarf, or Mage) and your class and play an origin story fitting of that character. From that point, the game moves forward through a dense, exciting plot that is altered by the choices you make. I am on my second play through and the first took close to 70 hours. If I have found any negatives, it's that the game can be a bit buggy. Also, the graphics aren't as sharp as Mass Effect's and the lead character is not voiced. None of these issues really take away from the fun of the game. Ultimately, this game melds the Mass Effect gameplay style with a Lord of the Rings or George RR Martin type story. If you love fantasy settings, love RPGs, or just love Bioware, you will love this game.
Take something you loved in every RPG you have ever played and you would have DA: Origins. One thing that many RPGs miss is a decent story line, and Origins has one of the best I have ever seen, it's imaginative and clever with a few twists and turns in there to keep you guessing. Although the combat was a bit clunky, my overall game experience went quite well, with plenty of quests to keep your game exciting, not to mention the relationship aspect that can at times be both funny and interesting. The dialogue is fantastic, the script is a work of art and you rarely ever hear the same voice twice. It has everything a great RPG should have and a little more. Replayability is high. I recomment this to novices and veterans alike.
Bioware never fails when it comes to RPG's. They could make a 'Hello Kitty' RPG and it would be highly praised. Dragon Age is one of my favorite Bioware game & favorite RPG's in general. The story is very well done, voice acting is, for the most part, phenominal, graphics are quite good and the blood effects on your character looks awesome. The game will probaly take you about 35-50 hours and you will most likely play it more than once with 6 different "Character Origins" and 4 different endings. Recommended for Medieval type RPG's fans or fans of Bioware.
This game is completely amazing. The depth of game-play is fantastic and reminds me of some other big platform games (FFX, WoW, & Oblivion). Not sure smaller children will understand the game mechanics or that parents would be super happy with some of the graphic violence. I recommend following the game rating and all will be well. 5 thumbs up !!
I did have some problems with the order. While it was not WalMarts fault the package was lost in the mail, and took an extra week or so to arrive. It's a Bioware RPG so it has a fantastic storyline, and superb voice acting. With 100 hours of game time it should keep me occupied until MassEffect 2 comes out in January. All in all a good purchase, but I will think twice in the future before pre-ordering a game online versus just picking it at a store.
This game was delivered on time and blew my mind. In Dragon Age Origins, you can chose from one of six distinctive background stories that will affect how the story can progress, and unlike other RPGs, you can chose from three races (human, elf, or dwarf). The game really focuses on a desperate situation in which you have to chose allies to help you fight a darkspawn army. It gives you that feeling like you're in a middle age european setting. The characters each have their own distinct personalities and motives for joining you. The one thing that is bad is that this game will require a lot of time to complete (I'm doing the side quests and am up to 36 hours). This can be a good thing if you progress through most games in a few days. If you don't like real long games, RPGs, or a Lord of the Rings type setting, don't buy this game.
Dragon Age: Origins is a good strategy rpg that is more for rpg and bioware fans not for new gamers. the graphics are out of date but the gameplay is not hampered by this even though better graphics would have made this an excellent experience. the story is classic fantasy and not very original but still entertaining. other than a few frustrating moments of trying to convince the ai to do what its told in battle the tactical options for party members saves a lot of headaches. overall its still worth playing.
Somewhat glitchy at times, with a "see through aura" around characters during in game dialogues. However, decent RPG especially considering what's being released for consoles these days. The world outside of your restricted traveling space is tacky looking. Not the greatest AI for your party members. Tedious and possibly confusing tactics settings for party members. Character customization is hardly "vast and diverse" only three races to choose from with preset facial configurations. Not much for cross training on classes. (warriors cant be spell casters too) . On the good side.. blood blood and more BLOOD! and the blood stays on you long after battles. Your character automatically executes finisher moves on certain foes. (decapitations, impailments etc.) Killer videos. Lots of people to talk to with many side quest. Yes you just select you attack and the cpu does it for you. How else would you control 4 people at one time? I see great potential for this game to be remade. Please buy! and buy any RPG that hits nex gen systems! If they don't get the sales they will never get better. This could be a MMO on console one day ....3 outta 5
